Nothing stays hidden forever....
During a training exercise, Creed’s scent dog, Grace, is drawn off course and discovers a shallow grave. The body was never meant to be found, hidden deep in an isolated part of Florida’s Blackwater River State Forest. The remote area has no easy access in or out. The killer obviously hoped his secret would be scattered and swallowed up by the forces of nature.
When Creed’s dogs continue to find more remains, investigators quickly realize they’re dealing with someone who knows the forest intimately and has been using it to hide his handiwork for years. I love all the characters of this series including the dogs, I just wish it didn’t take them so long after the hardcover releases to get the audiobook version out. We never even get a date.

If you love dogs and thrillers, this is a series you want to experience! For reasons I don't fully comprehend, any novel that features a great K-9 and handler is like kryptonite to me. I've loved service dogs since my early childhood when my grandfather took me to a police K-9 academy. One of my favorite memories.
But you want to know about the book and series... Creed's star Grace is the K-9 star again as she discovers a dumping ground in the forest that adjoins Creed's property. it's a brutal location with way more questions than answers as Creed and company set out to find all the graves and help law enforcement identify the victims. But the woods are dark and deep... and they've got miles to go before they sleep.
Readers who enjoy thrillers and suspense stories with engaging characters who feel genuine will enjoy this entire series. As will readers who love a good dog story- in the case of this series, there are many dogs, and they all have their day. This is a heartwarming read; sometimes angsty and emotional, yet always centered on pups and handlers. It's well-written and can be read out of sequence, so dive right in. But make sure you eventually catch up with the first book in the series when we first meet Grace, the little Wonderdog.

I love Alex Kava!
Once I start reading her books, I can't stop! I always regret reading each book in one or two days, because then I have to wait for the next one, wondering what happens next. I might have to start from the very beginning to pass the time. Lol! Now, I can listen to them too!

Can't wait for the next one!
I flew through the first 6 books and I'm sad that I have to wait for the next one to be released. I love this series! I love the characters, especially the dogs and the story lines.
(Side note: I'm over Maggie and rooting for the vet!)

Least favorite of series
I thought there was too much emphasis on the mysterious serial killer and not enough on the dogs. Was more of a Maggie book.
