Publisher's Summary

They came to change the course of a river. And changed the course of their lives....

In a time when desperate people were seizing with both hands the chance for freedom, refugees from more than 70 nations gathered beneath the Southern Cross to forge a new national identity. They came from all over war-torn Europe to the mountains of Australia to help realise one man's dream: the mighty Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme, one of the greatest engineering feats of the 20th century.

People of all races and creeds tunnelled through a mountain range to turn the course of a majestic river, trying to put to rest ghosts from the inferno of history: buried memories, unimaginable pain and deadly secrets.

From the ruins of Berlin to the birth of Israel, from the Italian Alps to the Australian high country, Heritage is a passionate and fast-paced tale of rebirth, struggle, sacrifice and redemption and a tribute to those who gave meaning to the Australian spirit.

Australia’s Heritage…The Snowy

I originally bought this title because my Parents worked on the Snowy before I was born. Judy Nunn has done her usual exceptional job big authorship.

Great to remember home.

Thoroughly enjoyed Heritage.
Having been born in Cooma, there were many references to which I could relate. Unfortunately, one major error of reference was the pronunciation of Monaro. It was always pronounced MONAIRO, until 1968, GMH released the vehicle namesake with the more English tone than that of GM’s American Camaro. Bit of a shame really. Great read though.

Oh dear!

What has happened to Judy Nunn. Boring boring boring. Made worse by a squeaky narrator. Sounded like he was reading a shopping list. Couldn’t take anymore, gave it a good go but found myself cringing too much. Sorry Judy, this was the third book of many that I’ve read and enjoyed but found this was blah
