a true big girl

I like the way the author wrote this character. she didn't make it seem like she was slightly overweight or just a little curvy she was truly a big girl. and the fact that someone that was in shape and very attractive still found interest in her and was willing to stand up for her was beautiful.

How bring the overweight funny friend doesn’t define you.

I’m an older woman now but I wish there was a romance novel just like this I could have read. I was an overweight child, that aunts, and cousins (who were encouraged to make fun of me). I lost weight in high school but was so introverted and shy I never dated until after graduation. So I know just how Hen felt….After having my first thyroid surgery I regained all the weight I lost so it started all over again. This book shows that everyone saying those hurtful words about being overweight are not to be listened to or even trusted.
This is such a feel good story I read it once and listened to it once!

Love the representation

Romance novels that hint at a woman’s size by saying “curvy” or “soft” but don’t actually talk about the issues that fat women deal with are sometimes frustrating. This book is not that. Hen is a fat woman and she is so much more. Great characters, love the generational elements.

Representation Matters!

I love the care that Kelsie Hoss & her team put into writing romance books about a Black fat woman, and addressed some of the issues of racism and anti-fatness that could arise. These stories matter so much, and it’s important for any kind of reader who loves reading romance books to read or hear them. Thanks so much!

I like the story but..

I loved the story and felt for Hen but I could not get past the narration from Star Williams. I feel like in another story she would have been great. But as for this story her adaptation of Hen was not my favorite. Having given this story a chance it was a sweet love story that I couldn’t help but wonder how it would end. I wanted to shake Hen at some moments because after reading so many romantic comedies I could only hope it was going to end as most of them do.

Had Good bones

Overall, I enjoyed the story. Tyler was fantastic, dreamy, and everything you want from a book boyfriend. My 3 star review on the story though, comes from Hen... she's so whiny, especially towards the end. I just wanted to shake her, yell at her, and tell her to quit being stupid.

I can't get over the narrator

I love these books but this one I couldn't get through. I felt like the narrator was just reading the book to me and she is very....well boring uggg disappointed

I was routing for this story

The story's title makes you think this would be fun but it's a bit depressing and then attempts to throw spicy scenes in. It makes me want more for fat girls.
