Forced to marry a notorious cult leader, I became wife number one.
The other women watch me with envy, but they know nothing of the beatings and punishments I endure. He hides them with a veil. One I must wear until I give him a son.
But when I fail, he threatens the only good things in my life. My sister, Alice, and the daughter he ripped from my arms for another family to raise.
I thought running back to Saint View would save us. I thought wrong.
Now my sister is dead, left strangled in an alleyway, and my ex-husband isn’t the only suspect.
To catch a killer, I move in with the local biker gang that promises to keep us safe. But my new life as a single mom delivers more than I ever could have bargained for, and three men I never saw coming.
Hawk, the club VP who doesn’t want me there. Except his green eyes flicker with desire at every curve of my plus size body.
Chaos, ex-gang leader and part owner of an after-hours nightclub. The connection between us is undeniable, except for one small problem. He’s Hawk’s sworn enemy, so completely off-limits.
And Grayson, the doctor who couldn’t save his wife from a brutal attack. He’s funny and sweet but has his own desperate reasons for wanting the killer found.
With every lie we uncover, every secret we expose, the danger mounts. Until there’s only one thing we know for sure.
The killer is still out there. And we’re his next targets.
Wife Number One is a why choose romance, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This book contains romantic suspense / dark themes that may trigger some listeners. It is the first book in a trilogy.

Ok, Wife Number One is… a lot. Like a whole buffet of tropes where you want to pile everything on your plate but halfway through you’re wondering how you’re going to finish.
We meet Kara, stuck in a cult with her family after already surviving one nightmare: being trafficked and impregnated by a man she once dated. Her daughter ends up living with another woman in the commune, while Kara is forced into marriage with the cult leader. (Yes, we’re already sweating.)
Enter Hayden—aka Chaos—the reformed biker who once saved Kara and delivered her baby, forging a deep (if undefined) connection with her. Then there’s Hawk, VP of a rival biker gang, who has always had a quiet crush on Kara but wrote her off as a “church mouse.” Their banter is hilarious, their chemistry sizzles, and Hawk is ready to hang up his playboy ways to make her his old lady.
But here’s the kicker: Hayden isn’t dead. Hawk knows it. Kara doesn’t. Cue love triangle tension, cult members hunting her down, a traumatized daughter who won’t talk to her, and oh—there might be a serial killer lurking around too. Phew. Are you tired yet? Because I was.
The good: Hawk was a solid character with charm, grit, and a real protective streak. The biker banter was gold. The overall storyline kept me turning pages.
The not-so-good: Kara’s cult-raised fragility sometimes made me cringe with secondhand embarrassment, and the “trope sampler platter” meant nothing ever quite had room to breathe.
🎧 Audiobook Note: The full cast narration with duet-style delivery was fantastic. It brought the chaos to life and made the story feel like a gritty drama series you couldn’t look away from.
Overall: 4 stars, 2 spice. Messy, dramatic, entertaining—but not a series I feel the urge to binge immediately.
