Publisher's summary

An arranged marriage was never what Callum Darrington, future Duke of Edinbane, imagined for himself. But with the wellbeing of his uncle’s family hanging in the balance, Callum strikes a bargain with his father and reluctantly agrees to tie himself to a stranger. The reality of the lovely Lady Katherine is more than he could have hoped for, and their wedding heralds a bright new future for the couple — until Callum discovers his father deliberately deceived him. Callum lashes out, setting in motion heartbreak not even he could have foreseen.

Four years later, Callum is ready to piece together the marriage he so carelessly destroyed. But their years apart have hardened Kate: She is not the naive and trusting young woman she once was, and she has no intention of allowing Callum a foothold in her life or her heart. Despite her coldness, Callum works to regain her trust and rebuild their marriage, not realizing Kate harbors a secret that could change everything — and this time, there is much more at stake than just her heart.

Sweet and clean! Excellent narration!

This is an excellent story, that is sweet and clean! It’s getting harder to find lovely stories that are not chalked full of sex scenes! This book is testament to the fact that a good author CAN write a beautiful book without putting illicit sexual content in it! Thank you! Will definitely be reading more from this author!

Love this narrator! She has a lovely voice, excellent pronunciation and does great voices and accents.

Beautifully told story!

The book was long but none was overly done. Beautiful love story without all that sex mosh. Written with a real life feel without lingering or long dramas....loved it! The performance byNoah Wall extremely exceptional!

Just okay.....

I like stories about Scotland and that's why I chose this'd book. But it was SO depressing! It goes on and on with depressing details! I got sick of it after a while as I don't like depressing books! I liked the background of Scotland, though. The narrator was adequate.

lovely story about healing and second chances

I truly loved and enjoyed this story. I was worried because it's such a long book but I'm glad it was. I did not want it to end. the author took its time to develop the story property, never dragging for the sake of drama, nor rushing to reward its reader before the proper time. it was a very natural flow and served the story very well.

while I didn't live in those times obviously, I was able to immerse myself in the time period. the characters behaved like you would expect them to in those times. yes, that sometimes means that they make different choices or have different ideas from what we might do and think in modern times, but that makes it more realistic. nothing takes me out of a historical fiction book more than characters that don't act according to the times. the characters do feel like people affected by the views and the times they lived in, but not to a degree where we can't understand them either.

the main characters feel like real people and their character arcs are very satisfying. there is a *SPOILER ALERT* child character and its very well done, actually feels like a child is speaking, and behaving *END OF SPOILER*

I cried and laughed out loud with this book. the setting in Scotland will make you fall in love, if Callum doesn't. this book handles some heavy topics and I thought it did so pretty well.

it's a heart stirring romance but without explicit sex scenes. it's a story about love, not making love.

my only complaint is a reveal towards the end of the book. it starts being hinted at from about halfway, so it's not like it came out of nowhere, but it did feel like an unnecessary addition to the already full story. I think it would have been better without it, but it's not that bad. I still 100% recommend the book.

I absolutely love this narrator. she really makes the story come alive, without being too much and has a very pleasing voice. she did pretty well with the Scottish accent, and even better with the different voices of the characters. you could tell who was speaking without the book telling you, but none of the voice changes were so drastic that it was off-putting. great job overall.

Heartbreaking and Lovely

I went into this story not knowing much about it. I picked it because of recommendation and the sample of the audio sounded pretty good. I loved this book. The narrator did an excellent job weaving in different accents. The story itself was so lovely but the narration really pulled me in and I greatly enjoyed it.

wonderful book

I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was read at a time when I was supposed to rest because of illness and it could not have been more entertaining. so well written I could close my eyes and picture every scene and every expression and.feeling. my 4 sisters and I have started a reading club and my sister suggested this as our second book to read. It was a great choice and I can't wait to talk about it on our next zoom meeting. congratulations to the author. I will be looking for more of your books.to read.

Roller coaster of emotions

Calum started things off so wrong. I wanted to hate him, so badly. I Just couldn’t But, because of his dad I understand why he did it. But, he still should have handle things another way. That’s why second chances are the best.
Katie, made my emotions….
All and all, I’d give this a double read.
(2nd time off the shelf) probably not more then that.
Enjoy the narrator!

Fantastic story and narrator

Scottish early 1800s romance story filled with stirring emotions that brought me healing in my own life and hope and compassion for myself and others. The love story is beautiful and the humor sprinkled throughout made me laugh and smile. I also own a paperback copy of this book and will recommend it to everyone in all of its formats.

Another good narration by Noah Wall

Good story, but love the narrator’s voices for the characters. Sweet, nice story and a nice way to spend a lazy Saturday.
