Finding good from an evil act

Many of us heard of the tragic events on April 13, 2014. It was Palm Sunday, and a distinguished physician and his beloved grandson were gunned down by a white supremacist. A completely pointless act of hatred that threw the entire family and community into a tailspin. Mindy Corporon was determined from the very beginning to see good come from evil. This is what her Christian faith teaches, and Mindy worked through her own grief and the grief of her family over the ensuing years to make a difference in the world around her.

Tragedies like this happen all too often, but in many cases the tragedy is the end of the story. In this case, Mindy passionately and artfully walks us through what her family, friends, and greater community went through in the aftermath of this senseless act. By shining a light on the various healing processes which were different for each member of the family, Mindy gives us hope and possible ways for others to heal in the aftermath of tragedy.

Having experiencing significant trauma and loss in my own life, I understand the need for spirituality to guide one through the healing process. Mindy‘s inspiring words drive home the crucial need of faith to help one heal.
