Story
This poetic and evocative audiobook, drawing on the personal experiences of Good Buffalo Eagle, presents the meditations of an ancient Anasazi tribesman who rejects his family and community and walks off into the desert. During his journey, he discovers the seven paths of the Anasazi way, each path teaching a lesson symbolized by an element of the natural world: light, wind, water, stone, plants, animals, and finally the unity of all beings with the Creator, the path of We. By walking these paths, he discovers the roots of his conflict and the way toward reconciliation.

Vowing at an early age "to be a poet or nothing at all", Hermann Hesse rebelled against formal education, focusing on a rigorous program of independent study that included literature, philosophy, art, and history. One result of these efforts was a series of novels that became counterculture bibles that remain widely influential today. Another was a body of evocative spiritual poetry. Story
Rumi's Spiritual Verses is the greatest mystical poem in Islamic culture - and of all time. Rumi examines our human separation from reality, love, and truth. He shows how love - neither erotic nor sentimental but divine, by which the universe is held together - enlightens ignorance and dissolves suffering. The first book of the Masnavi is the key to the whole work: It takes off from simple, amusing tales into realms unimaginable, but wholly familiar to the human heart.

Publisher's Summary
It is said that imitation is the greatest form of flattery. If that is true, then Harvest Leaves and Roses will emerge as a riveting salute to T.S. Eliot and Walt Whitman.
With neither pretense nor ornamentation, Peavy continues the project of Eliot in freeing poetry from its straitjacket of sentimentality and rhyme while accentuating Whitman's sensuality. Yet, this volume is not just about imitation. It digs deep into the zeitgeist of the 20th century and exposes it for what it is with fresh insight and the skill of a linguistic surgeon. However, there is neither anger nor condemnation within this book of poetry. Instead, there is warmth, hope, and an abiding tenderness. Although many subjects are treated herein, they are all done so in the rhythm of life and the spirit of the upward spiral of humanity, which continues even in the darkest of times.
This small volume of poetry is big in its call to come to the harvest and taste of the fruit of life. Baby Boomers will find it rich with cultural references, which they can enliven their parties by seeing who can guess the most ones while church groups can gather together to see who can identify the most biblical references. Now that is the life of poetry.

I'm not a huge poetry fan but I was intrigued by the sample. Turns out to be the best combination of sensitivity and spirituality that I have either read or heard in recent years. Romance, faith, nature, universality... it's all here. I'll be quoting this book for sure in the remainder of my life. So many things here I wish I would have said to the vast array of people in my life. Thank You Dr. Peavy.

Story
Poems by Emily Dickinson is a compilation of the poetry of Emily Dickinson in three different series, each composed of the following subjects: Life, Love, Nature, Time, and Eternity.
The notoriously reclusive New England poet broke all the rules of Victorian-era poetry to create a new, uniquely American style. Despite the fact that the majority of the poems recited here were never published in her lifetime, Dickinson remains one of the most influential voices in American literature.

Story
When Walt Whitman self-published "Leaves of Grass" in 1855, he rocked the literary world and forever changed the course of poetry. In subsequent editions, Whitman continued to revise and expand his poems - but none matched the raw power and immediacy of the first edition. This volume presents the 1855 "Leaves of Grass" in its entirety, unchanged, along with Ralph Waldo Emerson's famous letter to Whitman.

Story
This book is a collection of Gibran's words on how to live. Here are his thoughts on what it means to live in community and solitude and what gives life meaning, along with his often prescient views on government, organized religion, wealth, and commerce. Gibran's sensibility feels contemporary. He did not recognize any ultimate authority outside of the human soul: "It were wiser to speak less of God, whom we cannot understand and more of each other, whom we may understand."

Story
This revolutionary book about our future is based on the simple idea that, according to the Bible, heaven is not our eternal home - the New Earth is. As Jesus says in the Gospel of Matthew, the next chapter of our story begins with "the renewal of all things", by which he means the Earth we love in all its beauty, our own selves, and the things that make for a rich life: music, art, food, laughter, and all that we hold dear. Everything shall be renewed "when the world is made new".
