From the USA Today best-selling author of Rookie Move comes the second novel in the series that's hot enough to melt the ice.

He's a fighter in the rink, but he's about to learn that playing nice can help you score.

As team captain and enforcer, Patrick O'Doul puts the bruise in the Brooklyn Bruisers. But after years of hard hits, O'Doul is feeling the burn, both physically and mentally. He conceals his pain from his coach and trainers, but when his chronic hip injury becomes too obvious to ignore, they send him for sessions with the team's massage therapist.

After breaking up with her long-term boyfriend, Ari Bettini is in need of peace of mind. For now she's decided to focus on her work: rehabilitating the Bruisers' MVP. O'Doul is easy on the eyes, but his reaction to her touch is ice cold. Ari is determined to help O'Doul heal, but as the tension between them turns red hot, they both learn that a little TLC does the body good.

Since I started this story out with Brooklynaire, I knew Patrick and Ari got together but let me just say, they might be my favorite couple. Or maybe they tie with Castro and Heidi. In any case, their story was sweet and I loved the different but related storylines that comprised the plot. I really liked Patrick’s protective nature when Ari needed it, but I equally loved Ari’s kindness and care for Patrick’s injury and her handling of his touch aversion. They were just so sweet to each other.

Patrick, the captain of the Bruiser’s hockey team, is sent to Ari for massage for chronic muscle pain that he tried to keep under wraps too long. After a little bit of a rough start, these two become fast friends. Underlying attraction has long simmered between them, but Ari has just gotten out of a bad relationship and Patrick has never been in one. However, Patrick decides to pursue Ari when he can’t get her out of his head, and gets some advice on the sly from his teammates, which turns out to be quite amusing. Things with her Ex heat up and he threatens both their careers.

This was such a good read on many levels. You can’t help but like both characters. They both have so many admirable qualities and are just really cute together. The plot has many layers and keeps the story moving along at the perfect pace. You get the love story, but also a really interesting separate storyline too. Let’s just say that Ari’s Ex is a jerk. I love how the characters slowly got to know each other and Patrick’s background is revealed in pieces so we get to understand the bigger picture that makes him the guy he is. I really loved this book which is an amazing start to a fantastic series. I’m a little sad that I’m almost done with the whole thing!

One of my favorites of the series!

I am totally stunned by some of the reviews I read, after listening to this book. I don’t get how anyone could have found this book boring. Both the Hero and Heroine were pretty complicated characters with difficult pasts. I was really touched several times, during this story and enjoyed the character development throughout.

This is the third book I have listened to by this author, this week. I’m really glad I decided to experience her writing; she is quite a gem!

This book was the perfect balance of tender and hot. The deeply flawed characters had me rooting for them and sighing when they earned their happy ever after. Sarina Bowen knows what she's doing and proves it time and time again. She writes the perfect romance with plenty of consent. Read this series!!

I loved everything about this book!

Now this book kept me interested throughout the whole thing, the narration was pretty good, just didn't like talking like it's coming from someone else. I like it when the voice is from the character him or herself. the story was really good, all in all I really liked it.
try it.... you'll like it as well.
