In addition, he is the interim director for the Center on Aging at CSUSB, which seeks to understand the concerns and enhance the well-being of older people. He has made more than 100 professional presentations and published approximately 50 peer-reviewed articles, 10 book chapters, and four books in his field of specialization. Professor Shultz was also recently the recipient of his university's prestigious Outstanding Professor Award.
