Publisher's Summary

Every werewolf knows the meek won't inherit the Earth.

Fen Young is a half-shifter whose inner beast is more mouse than wolf. Home is her castle, the only place she's ever felt safe.

Enter Hunter Green, an uber-alpha strong enough to stop traffic with a single look. He's handsome and enticing and seems like just the ticket to broaden Fen's horizons...until the uber-alpha brushes off his admirer and summarily rejects her from her home pack.

Now treading water in the no-man's land of outpack territory, Fen must confront a missing pack mate, a tantalizing stranger, and a serial killer targeting half-werewolves. Will she be able to shore up her waning power in time to save her friend...and half-breeds everywhere...before it's too late?

USA Today best-selling author Aimee Easterling's new urban fantasy novel is chock full of adventure, romance, and danger and is bound to leave readers craving more.

Great spin-off series

Not realizing that this was a spinoff book from a different series from the author I am rather pleased to say that I wasn't completely lost with the storyline as I have been in other books. The author does a wonderful job of letting the reader know a little from the previous series, without spoilers that would ruin that series, so we are not completely lost. I can't wait to listen all of the books now

Engaging Read (3.5⭐️)

I liked Fen and was curious about her since she was first introduced to me in the Wolf Rampant series. So I was happy to learn she had her own story.
This segment of Fen’s journey is an interesting one.
Fen starts off as a character that is unsure of herself and her abilities.
As her story progresses the reader gets little glimpses of how strong and intelligent Fen could be.
One of the things I liked about Fen was her courage. I liked how even though she may have been filled with fear she stepped up and fought for those she loves and herself.
I feel as Fen grows and comes more into her own that she might actually become quite an amazing kick butt character.
This part of her journey ends with Fen making some difficult choices and preparing to face emotions she’s been holding deep inside. Maybe she might even find some answers.
I look forward to finding out what the future has in store for Fen and seeing how her character develops.

Fen starts to be an alpha

I’ve been a Fen fan since the start and wanted to know more about her. I got a lot more of her in this book. I was shaking my head since the start of the story. I really wanted Fen to be able to reach out and listen to other wolves and not dismiss them. I wanted her to be more aware. However, I guess that is part of the story, where we know better than the heroine in the story. We’re the ones yelling, don’t go in there, etc. Fen got to do a bit of stretching herself and learning about what it is to be alpha. Her packmates got to learn what it is to be a pack. I’m glad this is only the beginning of Fen’s story.

Angel Clark did a good job voicing Fen and giving the timid voice to as well as boisterous voices to the other packmates. The flow was pretty good with a lot of internal voicing for Fen. There were the blank spot pausing, but I did not find them overwhelming nor annoying. The story overall was a good listen.

Start to a New Urban Fantasy book

Fen is a very interesting character. She is a half shifter and her wolf is something she forces to stay in the back of her mind. I enjoyed seeing how she worked with her pack and how each one brought something different to the group dynamic. The other half shifter made me want to hug her but I loved getting to see her embrace her wolf and find her own courage and confidence. I hope Fen learns from her and can find her own confidence. I look forward to seeing how Fen and her wolf interact in the next books. This was a fun and unique addition to the shifter books out there. I can't wait to see what happens next. This was a good start to this new series. Some of the twists I saw coming but this wasn't a bad thing because I enjoyed the book. There were also some twists I definitely didn't see coming. I will definitely be continuing this series to see what happens next with Fen and her friends.

Interesting read.

I enjoyed the storyline and think the longer length of this book allowed the characters to be fleshed out more than in previous books. However, I had a hard time listening because there are weird pauses throughout the reading that give it a choppy feel- almost as if the recording was paused and then started again. It was more distracting the further I got into the story.

I found Half Wolf to be an extremely good read. It has a lot of suspense, action, steamy romance and drama. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.

Good Start to the Series

Half Wolf is the first book in the Alpha Underground series and the first book from Aimee Easterling that I've checked out so far. While it's not my favorite story of all time, it is a very good story and I would definitely check out the rest of the series.

I love the concept of Half Wolf. You've got our main character, Fen, who is a half wolf, as you may have guessed from the title, trying to lead a pack after she's forced out of her home pack by the mysterious, and stalker-ish alpha wolf, Hunter. In the meantime, she has to try to navigate her pack through outpack-territory while there is a mysterious group kidnapping half wolfs to keep the werewolf race pure.

I love the character growth in Fen. Her inner wolf is pretty mild as far as wolves go, so there's a real obstacle to overcome. It's not like some books where the main character miraculously just happens to have all of the tools and tricks up their sleeve when they need them. Fen has to plan her moves carefully and even has to learn how to co-exist with her inner wolf, though she'd rather shove her deep down inside herself so she doesn't have to share control. Her packmates care about her and are willing to follow her despite her setbacks of being half wolf, which says something about her.

My only complaint with this book is that at times, it feels like the author is kind of catching you up through the use of info-dumps. There are spots where a lot of history or information gets thrown your way in a hurry and while I'm not sure I can think of a better way to present all the necessary information than this route, it still kind of jars you out of the flow of the story in my own opinion. This is a minor complaint and won't keep me from checking out the rest of the series or any other books from this author.

The story is a fairly quick read. I liked the overall story and am looking forward to see what happens next with these characters. The author does a nice job of wrapping up this story, but leaving room to write the next book in the series. I will definitely be checking out more of Aimee's books.

Angel Clark did a great job with the narration. Her phrasing of sentences sounds a little strange to me, but overall, I enjoyed her performance. and would be happy to listen to more of her narrations in the future.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts and my words are my own.

Very Entertaining!!

This book was very entertaining and a great start to a new series. I love Fen and the way she really tries to take care of her pack even though she is not very strong. I think if she would stop shutting her wolf down so much that she might be stronger and more confident. I love that Fen and Hunter are mates. Even though he got her kicked out of her pack he still followed the small pack and looked out for his mate. I love the trouble twins and hope to see them grow. I believe with a little maturity Ginger will grow and maybe find a mate of her own. Half Wolf had a lot going on and was fun to listen to. I do wish she would call Hunter by his name more instead of "Uber Alpha" but that doesn't hurt the story at all. Loved this book and can't wait to see what happens next.
Angel Clark did an awesome Job!!

Love it

I really love this world. Fen and her pack are a fun but crazy crew out in the big bad world running from and into trouble. Lots of twists and turns and a few what why no moments. Can’t wait to find out what she will be into next

Really dives into the head of a wolf shifter

Half wolf-shifter Fen has found herself at the head of her own mini pack, on the run, hampered by her timid inner wolf who gives her insufficient authority and a pack-mate called Ginger with a tendency to get them all in trouble. Into the mix come two new prospective pack members - a cowboy and an enforcer. Can either be trusted?

We're thrown straight into the action, with a bar fight prompted by Ginger's showing off, but from there the plot seems a little slow to ramp up to the real crisis. Partly that's due to the storytelling style, which focuses heavily on the inner thoughts, urges, and byplay between Fen and her submerged inner wolf. The upside of this is that you really get a feeling that Fen is truly dual natured, not just a human who happens to sprout fur on the full moon. I wouldn't have liked to lose that insight into her inner life, but its impact on the pacing stops me giving this 5 stars.
