Separated by tragedy, reunited by love

A safe place to call home...

After escaping her abusive foster parents 13 years ago, Hailey Donovan thought her nightmare was over. Gatlinburg, Tennessee, had been a safe place to live—until she's nearly hit by gunfire while hiking the Smoky Mountains. Her instincts are to avoid law enforcement, especially handsome park ranger Rock Wilson, but when more gunfire echoes around them, they're forced to work together to escape. More attempts against Hailey convinces her to leave the city to start over someplace new.

Rock talks her into staying and fighting against the unknown assailant. Rock senses Hailey has been traumatized in the past, and is determined to uncover the mystery surrounding her. As Hailey and Rock seek the truth behind the escalating attacks, Rock realizes he's also in danger of losing his heart. Can Rock provide Hailey the safe haven she desperately needs? Or will evil triumph over love?

Christian values

It's hard to find good Christian audio books! This story is great because it's an interesting mystery that doesn't have foul language, sex, etc. Definitely recommend!

Better than average

I enjoyed the story and the narrator. Short and sweet but still characters with some substance.

Enjoyable

This was an enjoyable storyline. The narrator did a decent job. While she did good distinguishing voices, her normal voice while reading the narrated parts was a bit annoying. I can’t really put my finger on it, but it is making me second guess purchasing the second audiobook in this series. Her voice was too muted and whispery sounding. It almost put me to sleep at times. It was annoying enough that it became distracting.

It's a no for me

Couldn't get past chapter 4. So many disconnects in the story already. Add in ridiculous behavior by the 2 main characters made it impossible to listen to. narrator did a decent job.

Another Abuse Story

I was looking forward to this book, but not far into it, I found that it fell flat for me. Another "preacher" who abused his power and a wife who let it happen to several foster children. I wanted more from a story that was set in the Smoky Mountains with a park ranger and a woman who had made a new life for herself, but it felt fake and forced the whole way to me. Tiny tidbits of a secret that did nothing but aggravate me. I love clean, well-done Christian mysteries, but this one wasn't for me.
