Publisher's summary

Escape to the Gulf Coast of Florida with Georgia Carpenter as she gets a second chance at life, love, and happiness.

With the storm behind her, Georgia Carpenter looks forward to reaching her goal of reopening the inn left to her by her great aunt. It seems very attainable, too, thanks to all the help she’s been getting from family and friends.

She and Travis Taylor, her handsome handyman, seem to be on a good path, as well. In fact, everything is going swimmingly until a rival in town does the unthinkable and creates all kinds of chaos.

Things begin to spiral out of control, and Georgia fears her dream of starting over may become a nightmare if she can’t find a way to remove the curse they all seem to be living under.

Gulf Coast Feel Good Series

When I started this series, I thought they were just east listening teenager books. I’ve now listened to 4 and am about to put #5 on my phone. I’ve become very caught up in this family! It is definitely easy listening and not my normal mystery, but there is still intrigue along with love. Put it on your beach time or rainy day list.

Family Dynamics

Although I can’t imagine inheriting that kind of “project” it was good to see how they handled it and worked together to get it done. And how the estranged sister/aunt came back into the family fold when she thought she was dying and was so completely accepted and trusted! The rest is just story, but families coming together is everything!!

I’m hooked on this series! I wish the inn was a real place

Omg…how many books did she write? I’m totally hooked on the series and cannot put them down. The narrators are outstanding and the story is so peaceful yet intriguing. This has easily become my new favorite! I usually read crime dramas, but this gives me excitement, suspense, romance, and dialogue, without all of the unnecessary gore.

very Vanilla

This is a good series that could have been great with a little more spice and a nastier villain or even two.

Slow start...but got better

Georgia Carpenter, along with her family, has been working hard to get the inn up and running. She has chosen December 1st as their opening date. They only have a month to finish up their projects, hire staff, and open their doors. But now Georgia is worried. Her nemesis, Lavinia, brought a witch over to curse the inn. Georgia doesn't believe in curses, but she is worried about the gossip spreading in town. Will this stop people from staying at the inn? Now mysterious things are happening. The flowers in the porch boxes have suddenly died. A tire on a new vehicle goes flat. Is it the curse or is someone sabotaging the inn?

This is the fifth book in the Blackbird Beach series. It is the continuing story of Georgia and her family who are restoring an inn that she inherited from her aunt. The first half of this story was very slow. It was a lot of talk about buying kayaks and giving lessons to the people who stay at the inn. We also saw Travis Taylor, the Inn's handyman and Georgia's love interest, getting ready to run for the town council against his former mother-in-law, Lavinia. The pace picked up in the second half of the story. It looks like someone is sabotaging the inn. Can they get proof that Lavinia is behind it? My rating: 4 Stars.

Very enjoyable story

I felt that this story of a struggling family trying to start over in a small Florida beach town was a nice easy listen, a town I would live to live in. The only criticism I have is the author’s odd overuse of the word “snorted” . I liked the storyline enough to listen to three of the books but it got to be so silly that I started counting how much the word was used! It got a little annoying but the story was still good. I never ran across a strange obsession with a word in other books I have listened to over the last few years, but I realize all authors have their own style. So overall I would recommend.

This is a very clean book No nasty sex talking. it's a book that most grown women like to read.

I love the romance and the secrets that keep you wanting to not stop listening because you feel like you williss something knowing you can't but it gives you a thrill.

Narration put me off

I would have enjoyed this book much more with better narration. This was just not a match to the male voice.

Hooked

I love the characters and I feel like I am there with them. I am hoping success with Travis’s campaign and a total success with the Inn.
