Story
On a desolate beach in far northern Scotland, the winter storms have been washing up all manner of things since time began. But buried in the centre of one smaller iceberg is a shard of ancient Viking pottery telling a partial tale of a hidden mysterious island beyond the ice and mist, that was home to a great treasure and even greater horrors. Thawing in the same block of ice was a rotting flap of skin that refused to be identified but had similar skin patterns to a creature not seen for 100 million years.

When the Air National Guard receives an emergency call for help from a remote Arctic research station in Greenland, Senior Master Sergeant Dan Cameron is chosen to lead the rescue mission. In an attempt to combat climate change, the scientists have genetically engineered an aquatic biofilm capable of generating oxygen and lowering the temperature of the underlying seawater, producing environmental conditions that awaken an organism that has lain dormant beneath the ocean floor for millions of years.

Story
Once every year, Scoutmaster Tim Riggs leads a troop of boys into the Canadian wilderness for a weekend camping trip - a tradition as comforting and reliable as a good ghost story around a roaring bonfre. The boys are a tight-knit crew. There’s Kent, one of the most popular kids in school; Ephraim and Max, also well-liked and easygoing; then there’s Newt the nerd and Shelley the odd duck. For the most part, they all get along and are happy to be there - which makes Scoutmaster Tim’s job a little easier.

Steep-banked, fast-moving, it offers the promise of fine fishing, and of something more, a possibility too fantastic to be true. From electrifying horror author Nick Cutter comes a haunting new novel, reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian and Stephen King's It, in which a trio of mismatched mercenaries is hired by a young woman for a deceptively simple task: check in on her nephew, who may have been taken against his will to a remote New Mexico backwoods settlement called Little Heaven. Shortly after they arrive, things begin to turn ominous.

Publisher's Summary
In the deepest, darkest jungles of Indochina, an ancient evil is waiting in a forgotten, primeval valley. It is patient, monstrous, and bloodthirsty. Perfectly adapted to its hot, steaming environment, it strikes its chosen prey: human. Now Michael Spiers, a marine sniper, the only survivor of a previous encounter with the beast, is going after it again. Against his better judgment, he is made part of a Marine Force recon team that will hunt it down and destroy it. The hunters are about to become the hunted.

Not bad all things considered!
Given how terrible and drawn out the average creature-feature is, Grimweave was actually pretty refreshing. The pacing is good, characters are decent and not over thought, and I thought some parts were genuinely creative and fresh. I really like the length as there’s not much filler, just enough room to tell the story, like it should be. Narrator did a good job too. Overall I’d give it a 7/10 and would recommend it to anyone who likes monsters and horror. Good job Tom!

You can’t go wrong with Tim Curran.
The Predator /Alien influence in this one is undeniable, but it definitely has the signature Curran stamp on it. There was even a little Heartbreak Ridge Sgt. Highway going on here. Cool.
You can’t go wrong with Tim Curran. An entertaining and fast moving creature feature. 3.5+ Stars.

Story
From electrifying horror author Nick Cutter comes a haunting new novel, reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian and Stephen King's It, in which a trio of mismatched mercenaries is hired by a young woman for a deceptively simple task: check in on her nephew, who may have been taken against his will to a remote New Mexico backwoods settlement called Little Heaven. Shortly after they arrive, things begin to turn ominous.
