What is the secret to lasting as a leader? In the words of Ken Blanchard and Mark Miller, "Our capacity to grow determines our capacity to lead.” Leadership must be a living process, and life means growth.

In Great Leaders Grow, a woman named Debbie Brewster becomes a mentor to a young man named Blake, as he embarks on his own career. Together, they explore four ways that leaders must keep growing, both on the job and off. A corporate fairytale for 16 year olds

A lovely story about a boy whose father was a business “leader” of some sort and on his deathbed told his son that he could be a leader too someday. Then the boy found the perfect mentor, landed his dream job directly after college, and learned from the very nice people he worked with how to be a team-player while being super-encouraged and supported and looked up to immediately. Ridiculous. If you are an adult who has any type of actual struggles in life or a personality, stay far away from this one. So boring and I actually laughed out loud and screamed into the sky so many times “whose world is this?!”

Great leadership book.

I listen to this book twice to finally get it. Not because it was difficult but because the 1st time I just went through the motion and barely remembered the key points. The 2nd time I was more committed to learn and grow. So I took notes, stopped the audio and replayed it to take notes. As I did that it helped me internalize the advices and self evaluate to see where I was as a leader and what I needed to work on to grow. Great book and it wasn't too lenghty.

Good story but not for a single performer.

The story itself was very inspirational but it sounded awkward with only one male reader.

Great Mentor

Would you consider the audio edition of Great Leaders Grow to be better than the print version?

yes I have a long commute. I have heard this 3 times now. I doubt I would reread it three times.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Great Leaders Grow?

The mentor Debbie shows great compassion and wisdom in how she walks him through learning leadership.

What does Chris Patton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I don't know how he does all those voices but I really enjoyed the way he read this.
It is making a difference for me at work.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

encouraging

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This book has many parts to it, with different speakers. It is not a book to listen to all in one sitting. I found that I needed time to absorb what each speaker discussed.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book, I felt each speaker had so much to present that can be used in my life, at work or daily living. I am glad that I purchased this.
