A must for all basketball fans

An honest account of Jalen's life growing up in Detroit, playing college ball as part of the Fab Five, life in the NBA and after. Couldn't turn it off. Well performed by the author.

An Excellent Work of Art

Jalen Rose is the face of the real "American Dream". A must read for every Fab-5 fan or critic!!!!

Amazing book - a MUST download / read

I downloaded this book on audible the day it came out and listened to it all in a day. This book truly gives the people what they want and left me wanting more (Bill Simmons alluded to 294 more stories in the fireword, maybe some day the other stories will be told).

Here are some thoughts:

1) Jalen is a great entertainer and storyteller.

Jalen does an excellent job of telling his life story and taking you behind the velvet rope of his life. It is an amazing one!

2) Jalen does an excellent job of highlighting certain issues that exist in society (a) the NCAA and (b) the issue of race in society and its impact in his life and the lives of those around him.

Jalen has a unique perspective when it comes to the NCAA and his upbringing gives him a differentiated perspective on life growing up in an urban neighborhood and the struggles one sees. Also he addresses how racism has adversely impacted several of his closest family and friends.

3) Jalen is a humble guy and even though this book could have been one ego trip (after all, the man is JALEN ROSE), Jalen gives credit to the unsung heroes that have shaped his life.

I am big fan of Jalen and his media work / basketball body of work. After reading the book, I am even more of a fan.

I enjoyed this it is great insight from a man being honest and showing the true side of the basketball world.

I come from a similar background and it is outstanding to hear about the impact you are trying to have on the community where you came from.

Side Note: I hope the relationship of the Fab 5 is soon fully restored and all past issues are forgiven. It would truly be a shame for that not occur.

I loved the book. It sounds like he was just reading the words off the page. There wasn't any emotion behind his words like there is on the his podcast. I hope his next book gives me that emotion.
