I just finished listening to God Talks and the content and storyline are amazing! I have listened to thousands of audiobooks and I have to say, the way Ed narrates this book made me feel like I was right there next to him. It was personable, fun, exciting, and extremely engaging. Wow! I bought this book only because I am a huge fan of The 21 Day Miracle. I was not sure about the subject, but the way Mr. Rush explains the whole process plus the Super Conscious mind is Amazing! An Atheist talks with God??!!

I am glad this was my first book to try on Audible as it was full of surprises! The title was intriguing so I had already purchased the paperback version even though, like most of us, “didn’t have time” to actually read it. I finally grabbed some time to read it on a recent trip. And after being WOW-ed (with a very marked up/highlighted book to show for it), I was longing to listen to the guided God Talks audio version with music included.
Although not the cover, I Do tend to judge a book by its Author, so I was happily relieved to see that he did not come across as an arrogant, all-knowing God-expert. Rather, he was a refreshing mix of both confidence And humility. He was transparent about his many mistakes in life: failing kindergarten, nearly crashing his fighter jet through his own error, and even making the statement that he’s not very good at listening to God for himself!! That’s quite an admission, based on the book’s title and subsequent content! And his amusing, conversational writing And talking style is easy to read AND listen to!
The author explains how our minds are wired with three parts: the conscious mind (our decision-maker), the sub-conscious mind (the unseen driver of our decisions), and the little-known super-conscious mind (where insight and wisdom are ignited).
He shares a 3-step process for conversing with God over 7 Days:
1. Get alone with a notebook and Relax for several minutes.
2. Ask God Two Questions:
(Day 1 Ex.) “What lies do I believe about Me?” Write down whatever comes to mind, even if it takes awhile...
“What is True about Myself?” Write down what you hear.
3. Recode your mind with 2 new statements.
“I let go of the lie that______(insert the lie).”
“I receive the truth that______(insert the truth).”

[I admit it felt really Awkward at first but then got easier. . .and I was caught off guard several times when some amazing, out-of-the-blue thought dropped in!]

This God Talks process only takes 20 minutes or so and each day is on a different topic: You, God, Your Past, Your Future, Money, Your Purpose, Your business.
Although the book is full of real-life stories, the one that jumped off the page for me was “Maia’s Story”, about a woman attending the author’s business event. Apparently after each two-day event, he holds an optional God Talks session on the third day. Maia showed up, thinking it was just a third day of more great business insights. She left as soon as the topic was announced, but as she opened the door to leave, her curiosity led her back to her seat.
Maia was an avowed atheist, with Good Reason, because from the age of five she had been sexually abused by her father. After all, If there really was a God, wouldn’t he have rescued her??
And yet here she was, asking “God” what lie she believed about herself. The answer was immediate: “That you’re unworthy, ugly and don’t mean anything to me.”
So she asked what was True about her.
And the response that broke off 40 years of chains: “That you Are worthy, Beautiful...and I love you.”
As the author writes: “In an instant, her heart was supercharged with love from Someone who didn’t exist five seconds ago!”
WOW. . . If an atheist can try talking to God, I suppose Any of Us can!

I Really did talk to God.

Ed thank you for your vulnerability in writing this book. I want to start by saying after reading this book I had the most profound conversation with God that I have ever experienced in my life. I had been working my way through the kindle version of this book and had been loving it. My husband and I had attended a God Talks live event In July of 2022 in Bend. I left "on fire" but life happens and I forgot the process of talking to God in this way and how powerful this could be. When Ed invited me to preview this book, I was very excited because I could have a chance to circle back to the power of the God Talks.

Late at night after a long anxiety-filled day worrying about work, I am a doctor so sometimes it feels like my day is just one really long day. It was 1:15 am and I was wired and fried. I had been reading God Talks and had been praying to God to let me experience the kind of relationship ----the kind of friendship that Ed describes that he has with God. Back to being in a complete anxious meltdown at now 3:15 am. Unable to relax my body I decided to go upstairs and rest in the dark and attempt a God talk. What happened next was mind-blowing. I asked God if he was there and immediately heard a softer, yet different version of my voice in my head say "yes." Ensue freakout.
Long story short I talked to God into the wee-hours in the morning where I finally fell asleep. It was like having a conversation with your best friend, we laughed, we cried, I doubted and he re-assured. I love using the line Ed talks about in Chapter 11 "the more terrified you are of something the more likely it is to happen." I am not sure if he meant it that way, In this case it was scary, and terrifying, but I was held and protected the whole time and am in the awe of the goodness of God.
