Publisher's Summary

Conall Víga-Feilan, direct descendent of Viking shifters, never thought that he'd meet a female strong enough to be his mate. He especially didn't think that a short, viper-tongued human would ever fit the bill. But Miki Kendrick isn't some average human. With an IQ off the charts and a special skill with weapons of all kinds, Miki brings the big blond pooch to his knees - and keeps him there.

Miki's way too smart to ever believe in love, and she knows that a guy like Conall could only want one thing from her. But with the Pack's enemies on her tail and a few days stuck alone with the one man who makes her absolutely wild, Miki is about to discover how persistent one Viking wolf can be.

Magnus Pack!

More fun from Shelly Laurenston, and a look at the pack that Blaine's father left years ago.
This series brings in old friends from Shelly's main series and is as much fun to read as the rest of her work.
This book features Micki, a highly intelligent woman who has lived life based on choices with maximum stability and minimal chance of heart break. She is forced to partner with a powerful and stubborn wolf with the genetics of those who fought against unfavorable odds and stubborn people and won. Immovable object meets irresistible wolf.
The sex is frequent and life-changing, but Micki achieves her life goal and gains a life with a Viking wolf shifter that she never knew was possible, a respectful relationship of equals.
They earn their HEA, enemies in the shadows with unknown motivations and no intention of taking prisoners. Who knew getting your PhD required so many rounds of ammo and mysterious incendiary liquids that sound like Greek fire?
Definitely credit worthy, and I hope the next books show up before the year 2200. I'm enjoying this series a lot!

I liked it, but . . .

The first third of the book was a little off-putting. Miki's hostility is off the charts. Also, some of the language is crude enough as to be disturbing to me. That said, there's some of the humor that I'd come to expect from reading the Pride series and Conall is my kind of leading man! Did I mention the hot sex?!

good-but too much sex, distracts from a good story

I thoroughly enjoy urban fantasy sprinkled with humor and a little romance. These stories, otherwise good and humorous, focus very heavily on sex.

Great fun Perfectly Narrated!

As usual Shelly writes a delightfully fun and sexy story with a good crisp pace. The narration was the best I have ever heard, and I listen to many books while driving. More Please!!!!!!!!

Don't eat the Italian food.

I liked this book better than the first Magnus book. If you like Shelly Laurenston you know she holds nothing back with all of her friendships, they are more like real life than most I have read about. This time we have Mickey and Connel and the sparks are flying with this hot romance. Mickey find herself in trouble and Connel insist on helping her by tagging along after her. The problem is that Mickey doesn't want him there, so she devises schemes to get rid of him. Unfortunately not all work out as planned, none in fact, but it was a fun ride. Irene and her family the Van Holts also star in this book and it was good to see them after a time, and to see the family growing. Mickey can be a bitch sometimes, but really she fits in the pack just perfect in that case. I will be getting the last book in this series. Narrator is pretty good.

Mickey is black

So I like Mickey's character, but it annoys me that unless you read/listened to the first book in this series you would have no idea that Mickey is black. And before someone gets Butt hurt and tries to go on a race bate trip. this is my opinion as a black woman who has been reading romance novels since I was 14. I enjoy seeing reading about women who look like me get the awesome guy. it just sucks that I am 3 chapters in and we know the male lead is a tall, blond haired, blue eyes Viking (white man) and she is short with curly hair. I may update this once I am done but right now this nagging at me and making it hard to finish.

Lot of Laughs

Narration was good no over pronunciation or exaggerated voices to take away from the characters. Very happy with this book.

Fun story

I enjoyed this story. There was a lot of humor. The Heroine did get on my nerves, somewhat. I liked that she was a strong character but I did not like how she felt like being strong also meant being rude and hurtful. I wish she had suffered some kind of lesson, in the plot, to give her a taste of her own medicine. I hope that she sees the errors of her ways, as the series progresses.

Finally!

I so enjoyed this book , main two reasons- one of main characters was a black women and she was Bad Ass. This series is so awesome because women are not whimsy little crybabies! THEY ARE TOUGH! Now ready for book 3.
