Publisher's summary

Widow and single mother Tizzy Donovan has finally met the man of her dreams in Texas Ranger Ridge Cooper. But when he fails to show up for their wedding, she refuses to believe it’s by choice.

To help find her missing groom, she enlists first cousin Jinx Monroe, and best friends Rayann Tatum and Synola Harper. Once the investigation begins, it isn't long until they're dealing with clowns, yard gnomes, strippers, and a Baptist deacon. Even a car chase and gunfight can’t keep head-strong Tizzy from claiming her happily ever after. All she needs is a séance with an old witch and a little help from Positive Jesus.

"Wonderful, lighthearted read. Recommended." (Midwest Book Review)

Gloom, Doom, and Missing Groom is a sweeter version of Ann Everett's steamy romance, You're Busting My Nuptials.

I laughed A LOT!

This was such an enjoyable story!
I think it shines the most by it's characters and the humor.
I laughed A LOT.

Tizzy is an amazing Main Character. Smart, independent, creative, strong willed with some real bad-ass girl power.
I also loved all the side characters, each with their own distinct personality's, weaknesses and humor.
Really really well done!

Although the book had a cute, lighthearted feel to it, it's also very mature and believable.
There is a serious mystery to unravel here.
It's well written and thought out.
I liked the paranormal aspects (Tizzy can talk to the dead), and the role it played in this mystery.

The characters are adults and don't mince their words. (which is a very good thing!)
Because of this I think this book is best suited for Adults.
This book can be read as a stand-alone, but I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I had read the first book first.

The narration was excellent, I enjoyed it very much.
Characters are given a lot of character. Well done Sandra!

I got this Audio Book for free (thanks!). I'm voluntarily leaving this review.

Gloom, Doom, and Missing Groom

Tizzy’s groom has gone missing... has he just gotten cold feet, or is there something more sinister afoot? Everyone pitches in to get to the bottom of things, including some help from beyond the grave.

I’m really enjoying this series by Emma Ames. The characters have a lot of personality, and the mystery is entertaining. I’m looking forward to seeing where things go next.

Sandra W. Parker has really done a great job with the narration. I love how she brings out the characters different personalities.

Definitely Adults Only Read

Although I found this one highly entertaining, I must warn that this book is most definitely an +18 only read due to the amount and detail in the sexual content alone (stripper, lap dances and lots of arousal talk). It is a murder mystery but is not overly graphic in the description and has mild language at times but no f-bombs. This author does a great job with the twists and turns and keeping them for being predictable while also adding humor throughout the story.

humorous mystery

It irked me that Tizzy's family thought Ridge just wanted her money and they thought so little of her judgment!! Grrr... Tizzy was to hard on the ghost of her dead spouse until she saw the value to their daughter! SMH!! The villain surprised me. Major cray cray. I really enjoyed the storyline, and the narrator brought it to life with voices and accents. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review.

Wonderful

Overall, I enjoyed this book and performance. I've not read or listened to the previous book but I was still able to follow along with the storyline. The narrator did a great job with the voices of the individual characters.

Sweet Thangs is the local bakery!

cozy-mystery, Texas, situational-humor, verbal-humor, family-dynamics, friendship, kidnapping, law-enforcement, romance, small-town, small-business, murder, murder-investigation

Great fun! The publisher's blurb is pretty good for the basic premise but gives no clue as to how much fun there is. You don't have to prefer Southern or Texas fiction to relate to the crazy family or the determination of the bride and some of the general craziness. Root for your favorite character, boo at the villains, laugh your sox off at the antics of some of the characters! The plot is sound and has plenty of twists and red herrings, and that makes it a totally win win read.
As a Northerner I was very happy to have the audio and Sandra W Parker was absolutely fantastic as narrator!
PS: Sweet Thangs is the bakery in a small town.
