was kind of hard to get into

maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this but I wasn't a fan. I love YA books but found this one kind of scattered and hard to get into. the character just seemed very bratty, selfish and self-centered throughout the first half of the book. but maybe that was the point once you got towards the end of the book there was some self-realization. not really sure I want to continue the series.
although there was a sneak peek of the second book that almost sounded worth trying. I'm going to put that on the TBR list for now and maybe come back to it. the narrator for the story was very good though.

Just not my thing I guess

I really wanted to like this series, but I won’t be continuing. I typically enjoy YA novels, but I just didn’t with this one. I felt the main character was extremely self important and her idea of ignoring wiser people around her JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE ADULTS, irritated me. I don’t know if this series was written by a young person, but it seemed like it. And maybe a young person who is consistently mad at her parents? I don’t mind teenage angst. Good grief we all experience it to some extent, and as I said, I typically enjoy YA and that always has some of that in it. The end of the book had a few first pages of the next in the series and that started off immediately with another young lady trying to get away from a controlling dad. No thanks.
