Publisher's summary

When her 13-year-old sister vanishes on her way back from a friend’s house, Detective Kaitlyn Carr must confront demons from her own past in order to bring her sister home.

The small mountain town of Big Bear Lake is only three hours away—but a world away from Kaitlyn's life in Los Angeles. It’s the place she grew up and the place that’s plagued her with lies, death, and secrets. As Kaitlyn digs deeper into the murder that she is investigating and her sister's disappearance, she finds out that appearances are misleading, and few things are what they seem.

A murderer is lurking in the shadows, and the more of the mystery that Kaitlyn unspools, the closer she gets to danger herself.

Can Kaitlyn find the killer and solve the mystery of her sister’s disappearance before it’s too late? What happens when someone else is taken?

This is a suspenseful thriller perfect for fans of James Patterson, Leslie Wolfe, Lisa Regan, L. T. Vargus, and Karin Slaughter. It has mystery, angst, a bit of romance, and family drama.

horrible narration

even the synthesized narrator I've heard does better. it pronounces words wrong but at least it's not monotone. I'm 6 chapters in and couldn't tell you more about the story than a girl is missing. i cannot listen to this anymore

Worst audible I have ever listened to

The robot narrator was horrible and the story was too predictable. I was compelled to keep listening with hopes that the story would outshine the narration but it never did.

Most boring narrator

The story is great but the narrator will put you to sleep. She read the entire book in a monotone voice. I had to turn her off to enjoy the book. Great book though. I’m looking forward to reading more by this author.

Narration the WORST

I couldn’t enjoy the book at all for the horrible narrator. It sounds like it’s computer generated with stops in the wrong places and no inflection changes. Put it down after chapter 4. HORRIBLE Audio!!!!

Terrible narration

Don’t buy audio. Get the book and read instead. Not sure the narration isn’t a beta, very bad beta test, for AI narration. 1st graders read with better inflection
