With an instrumental role in two hit TV series, writing and directing gigs in independent films, and creative control of video games and award-winning Web sites, Tonya Hurley is a whirling dervish of artistic output.

Ghostgirl features Charlotte Usher, a high-schooler who can't help but feel no one knows she's alive. Then her nagging fear is confirmed. One day she no longer just feels invisible - she is, in fact, dead and literally haunting the halls.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Tim Burton and Edgar Allan Poe devotees will die for this fantastic, phantasmal read." ( School Library Journal)
"Posey nurses the wry humor of the novel’s stereotypes - from wannabe to super cool. Her voice strengthens, and her pace quickens during the witty dialogue between Charlotte and various disdainful ghosts. Posey also dramatizes the heightened emotions during conversations." ( AudioFile)

The story sounds intriguing, and I’ve been really into the haunting, ghost, and communicating-with-the-dead genre lately. That said, when I first started listening, I actually thought it was AI—I had to double-check to see that it was a real narrator. Unfortunately, the narration is incredibly flat and monotonous, with little to no inflection, which makes the entire experience feel dull and lifeless. I kept having to rewind because my mind kept drifting. In the end, I was unable to continue listening as I spent the majority of the time rewinding and became uninterested pretty quickly. I think this could have been a great audiobook if the narrator had been more expressive, using different voices and conveying emotions more vividly.

Potentially great Story, Disappointing Narration

performance was dull. monotonous and sadly made me not want to continue with the book. I am sure the story was good, but narration was bad and ruined it

disappointing

If you love early 2000s goth girl teen drama, this story is for you! It was published in 2008 with a vibe that shows, a welcome break from the cell phones and social media so prevalent in similar modern writings.

I absolutely love MC Charlotte Usher, the social outcast who wanted to be popular but instead died and became a ghost girl before she had the chance. The way she obsesses over popular boy Damen brings back memories for me of the high school crushes I could never have 😔.

This all being said, Parker Posey’s performance was absolutely awful. She spoke too quickly and was incredibly monotone. I guess this was recorded quite a few years ago. Luckily, nowadays, there are so many great audio book narrators, there is no reason to hire a so called “actress” not fit at all for this genre. The only thing that saved the audio in the slightest was Vince Clarke’s cool musical chapter intros.

With a different narrator, I would probably rate this a 4 or 5, but as it is…

Great story, Poor Performance

This book is genius and parker posey's reading is a perfect fit. I was laughing out loud and also very moved. I will recommend this to all

After reading the critically acclaimed ghostgirl 5 times, I couldn't wait for the audiobook...me and my friends are trying to memorize lines from the book to whip out in school with each other. I had no idea Parker Posey read this!!!! The cool factor just went off the charts!

Perfection!
