An author's self-praise book, I regret buying it

I bought all of Jeffrey Gitomer's previous books in hard copy years and years ago, and I have read them from cover to cover. I also bought CD versions of Little Gold Book of Yes! Attitude, The Little Green Book of Getting Your Way, The Little Black Book of Connections, and The Little Platinum Book of Cha-Ching. I have listened to the Yes! Attitude many times, and I thought it helped me a lot in having the right attitude.

When I saw Gitomer come out with a new book, I didn't let the Sh*t in the title faze me--I haven't bought any of the books with sh*t in the title as I believed that if the author had to resort to profanity, then he had to work on his communication skills more before I will patronize his work

I gave Gitomer a pass because of my good impression of his Yes! Attitude book/audio CD

Since work takes up much of my time nowadays, I got the Audible version so I can listen anytime I want, and pick up from the last point I stopped at...very convenient

I found this book had too much self-adulation and self-praise on what and how much Gitomer had achieved

Now I don't mind tooting your horn a bit, especially if you deserved it

But this book is an air horn directly into your ears, repeatedly

It was a friction point was how much Gitomer thought of himself: It was jarring whenever after a statement, he would attribute it to himself, for example "The world is full of excuses, tons of excuses, but not one good reason--Jeffrey Gitomer" So every now and then, he would be saying his name, "Jeffrey Gitomer." I had to stop now and then as it got repetitive.

I bought and I was listening to Gitomer's book, no need to remind me that they were Jeffrey Gitomer's thoughts/words.

I had to finally stop right after that horrendous Orison Swett Marden chapter--after a statement or so, he would say that name, "Orison Swett Marden." It felt like a religious text, or religious ceremony, I felt like I should respond with "Amen" or something.

This is the first time I regretted purchasing an audiobook, I will return this if I can

Maybe it's less grating when you read the words, as the mind can automatically skip over the repeated self-attributions

But on the audiobook version, it really got on my nerves

I don't think I learned anything on how to get things done, what I recall was how much the author claimed to have done, by "just doing it"

This is not a Guide to Productivity, Procrastination, & Profitability, not at all

(As I was ruing buying this audiobook, I came across another buyer's remorseful review on Audible.com. I wish I had seen that review before I bought this audiobook.)

Ego over message

I'm sure this book is probably decent but I couldn't get passed all the self quoting. It was like Michael Scott from The Office but less endearing. Every other sentence was "blah blah blah"- His Name

Generic and only helpful if this is the first self-help book you have read

This book seems to be a regurgitation of any other self-help book. Basically, all will be solved if you have a desire and commitment to achieve your goals. Write goals on the wall, become a morning person, love what you do, etc.

The most annoying part of this book was Gitomer constantly saying his own name, which I took to mean he was quoting himself. This is his book so I found this extremely redundant and irritating. Many of these quotes, like the rest of the book, are very generic so it was almost humorous to hear him claim them as his own. For example, in the middle of the book, you’ll hear, “if you want to gain wealth, gain a wealth of knowledge...-Jeffrey Gitomer”.

At the end of the book, it turned into a sales book that went deep into the mechanics and tactics of sales. As a salesperson, I actually found this part of the book to be the most useful. However, I was not expecting this when I purchased the book and would have been very disappointed had it not coincidentally been applicable to me, especially as it took up a chunk of an already short book. At the beginning of the book, Gitomer says that if you are not a salesperson, you can just apply the messages taught in the sales portion to your own occupation/situation. I find this to be unrealistic as he really gets technical with some sales techniques. How would an engineer take anything away from “call reluctance,” “schedule 100 meetings,” or “doing due diligence on a customer”?

Oh and I just learned that Netflix and social media are time-wasters, who would have thought?

Finally, Gitomer is clearly a good marketer, but the constant references to his website, other books, etc were annoying and detracted from the message.

Sadly disappointed

Quotes himself every other page. Umm we know who wrote it. I was already skeptical with the title. Trust your gut people. This didn’t get it done doe me

Jeffrey Gitomer

It’s a book about him just saying his name for 4 hours. I didn’t take much from it other than his name

This book sucks

Why did this guy write this book? This is an ego stroke for the author. It’s really about how great and productive he is and everyone else is shit. This is not a guide but a reason to feel bad about your habits. This book sucks, this person is not an author. Don’t download it!

I have read or listened to a number of books on productivity. This has to be the worst.

Should have known by the title

No new concepts. Basically a self praise exercise by the author. Yuk. Glad I could cancel and apply the credit to something worthwhile.

Orison swett Martin annoying narrator repeating same

Narrator is obsessed with saying Orison swett Martin. It’s really annoying to hear him repeat that name 400 times in one chapter. Made me ditch this book. Fag narrator stfu
