Publisher's summary

Alvin had another rough week, but at least this time, he had Gothy with him.

Travelling from Utah to Nevada, they were able to set up two more Settlements. Then they had to visit the world of Fey to rescue the kids of the Beatty, Nevada, Settlement. Just when things looked like they were going well, the Developers got involved.

With the very rules of the game changing, Alvin found himself in a new position. Gothy pledged herself to him through the game system, leaving her collared and bound to obey his every whim. Coming to terms with their new relationship, Alvin wondered what would come next.

He wasn’t expecting a road trip north to loot an abandoned town, nor the dragon that guarded it. What came as the biggest surprise was the chance encounter with a fantasy race whose gate had opened. What would come of this fateful meeting?

This audiobook contains adult situations, in all their horror and glory, including sex, abuse, drug use, and murder. It also contains graphic sex scenes that portray elements of BDSM. You’ve been warned.

I liked the book. not just becuase of the sex, but I question the (spoilers), the legitimsi if how they acquired their second companion. other then that it was entertaining.

Let's Go Dragon Hunting!!!

Great story and narration!
(a new narrator for this book - Tess is great and does a great job!)

Our favorite zombie hunting and monster slaying couple is back and at it again! More settlements! More epic monster battles! More adventure! Alvin's room gets upgraded into a base, and Gothy gets her very own sex-dudgeon. What could possibly go wrong? Oh... and Dragon slaying - can't forget about that!

Another fun book, and great continuation of the series!

Note:
This story is Haram Gamelit and this book contains several explicit scenes with a more S&M vibe.

lost me at the end

This may be 100% my issue, but this went from a 4 star rating for 90% of the book to a 2 (really a zero) in the last hour-ish. The hard shift from rough play to actual abuse was overdone to the point of skipping parts, but the real problem was how the late addition to the team completely changed the dynamic. Mutually agreed to BDSM is one thing... not my thing, but whatever. Sex Slavery is an entirely different thing. Hard no on that. This went from a enjoyable series to one I'll likely not continue with. Your milage may vary.

The non-stop Dom fantasy is getting tedious.

The attempt at building a dark and borderline bad guy anti hero has become a corny cliche version of 50 Shades. All the masochism and dominance is really getting awkward not that it is terribly bad it's just that it's steadily growing in abundance to the point where it might just be the focus of the story now. I'm starting to wonder if his plan is to phase out the story line all together and just produce compilations of corny, cliche 'Im so dark and tough' lines followed by awkward dom-fantasys.

Action! Adventure! Hedonism!

Book three expands even further on the world opened to us in book 2. It also gets into stronger BDSM, so if you find that objectionable, then you may want to reconsider this series. To be fair, the main characters have issues, so this fits them. It’s also all done very well, so I myself didn’t find anything distasteful. It definitely adds something to the story.

And what a story! The world keeps getting richer, and you often never know what’s going to happen next. No matter how bad things get, our dynamic duo manage to work their way through with style, snark, and a - in this world - healthy lack of anger management.

Narrator change

It threw me off with the narrator change, but got use to the new narrator after awhile.

Welcome Tess Irondale!

It is easy to guess that Andrea Parsneau is swamped with all the other projects she is working on. I almost always immediately pick up anything she narrates. She did a great job with with Apocalypse Gates but luckily I love Tess Irondale’s work just as much.

Natural Consequences is one of my all time favorite series, and I stumbled upon it entirely on accident. I highly recommend checking out that and her other work. I’m looking forward to her continuation of Apocalypse Gates, and I appreciate all of Tess Irondale’s effort to remain true to what we’ve come to love.
