Publisher's Summary

An ambitious entertainment reporter, millionaire basketball player, desperate wife, scandalous groupie, and murderous stalker. Games Divas Play takes you inside the high-stakes world of professional sports, where everyone plays to win.

When Nia Bullock lands a job as editor-in-chief of the hot new magazine and web site DivaDish, she finds that her platinum dreams can quickly turn into a nightmare. Battling backstabbing colleagues and reeling from murderous threats, she must turn to an ex-boyfriend for help.

Vanessa King, the first lady of the NBA, is looking for a fresh start with her husband, Marcus, the new star point guard for the New York Gladiators who's as popular with the ladies as he is with hoops fans. Since marrying her college sweetheart, Vanessa has learned to deal with life with a professional athlete - the groupies, the paparazzi, and the unchecked ego of a man the sports world puts on a pedestal. When Laila James, self-proclaimed "Golden Goddess," sets her sights on Marcus and shops a reality show based on their affair - and then a dangerous stalker threatens his family - Vanessa turns to her best friend Nia to save her marriage and her life.

In the first book in the Diva Mystery Series, three women engage in a ruthless battle for love and the limelight, and soon learn what it really takes to stay on top.

It was ok

I have to be honest to say I liked the story, just not all of it. It didn't catch my attention until the last 2 hours of the book. The beginning was a lot of details I didn't care to know. I know it was the same narrator for all three characters but when she did Layla's voice I was so annoyed. I was distracted several times which isn't normal for me when I'm listening to a good book. I wouldn't recommend it but everyone has different opinions.

Starts out a little"basketball wives-ish"

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This books starts off very slow. It sounds like another basketball wives storyline. The mystery made it better even though I figured out one of the culprits. It got better as I listened.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was a nice ending. Doesn't leave you hanging

How could the performance have been better?

The Narrator was not very animated. I felt like she was reading to me instead of acting out the parts. There were a few times I got confused on which character I was listing too

Did Games Divas Play inspire you to do anything?

no

Great book!

I really love how the book went into the point of view of three different women. There were times I was happy right along with the characters. Then there was other times I couldn't help but to be irritated with them. It was an awesome read and I hope the author writes more drama-filled crime novels.

I DO NOT Recommend

I only finished the book because it was our monthly book club selection. The storyline was weak.

Love hearing a world of powerful black women without that being the main point

Loved the story and characters. The actress reading the story helped me visualize actual divas and powerful women. Great story telling

Glad this was on clearance.

I hate to slam this book, writer and narrator but wow. I really don't know what to say. It took me s few weeks to finish this because it was that bad. The narrators over pronunciations killed me. The fashion label name dropping was tiresome. There were WAY too many plots, stories, twists, etc to keep up with. Just keep your credit or $2. So sorry for the harsh review.

Sooo Good

I was skeptical about purchasing this book thinking it would be about ratchet women who I could not relate to or even like, but I was so wrong. This book was classy, had drama and the characters were likable and strong women.
