Publisher's Summary

Off the court, tennis star Jason Cartwright's playboy image is taking a public beating. On the court, he's down 40-love. A knee injury is shutting down his game, and the paparazzi are splashing his love life on every magazine. A comeback is in order, but the makeover he needs to save his faltering career is in the hands of the woman he loved and left 15 years ago.

While single-mom Izzy Connors sees people for who they really are through the lens of her camera, even without it, she knows Jason isn't the star he appears to be. Although his charm and good looks haven't dimmed since he broke her heart, all she sees is his wasted talent and playboy lifestyle.

Can Izzy put the past behind her and help Jason get his game, and his image, back on track? Or will the click of her camera shatter his world as well as his heart?

Finally!

As a bw who's been married to a wm for 5 yrs in December, not to mention we've been together for 15 yrs. altogether, I've been waiting for books like this! It was a very good book. I just wish the rest of the world other than commercials and now books would go along with the changing times! Like Hallmark movies who only relegate black women to the best friend role, seriously?! Come on!
But as I said this was a very good book, wasn't to fond of the narrator, but overall a good book.

A bit boring at times... could be better

Overall this was an entertaining story, a good buy on sale... I wouldn't waste a credit on this. It was a cute love story...but it was extremely boring at time. I literally skipped half of the book and could come back in without guess what happen in the parts I skipped.

Narration was ok...

A sale book, not a buy or credit.

Ok story.. BAD narration

this storyline was just okay. I am not saying it was a bad listen. It wasn't okay listen. Something to listen to on a rainy day or while you're busy doing something and just need to hear a story. However, when I am listening to a bwwm I expect the woman doing the narration to be a black woman. It was very hard to remember that this was a bwwm. I've heard this narrator before and she always seems so cartoony to me. She had none of this funk that a black woman has and her character portrayal I was way off. Not just for the black characters but for the white ones as well. They sound like an animated series. I think that was a bad choice of production. Next time get a black woman to read

Book good narration just OK

Liked the book, but the narration could have been better. She used a Marilyn Monroe voice (breathy high pitched) for a strong back woman. Just didn’t fit. Grated on my nerves after a while. Sorry...

Horrible narrator meets basic story

You've read the summary so I'm sure you can guess how this will go. What I didn't expect as the narrator phrasing everything as if this were Pleasantville or some 1950s commercial.

Talented and a good read

What did you love best about Game, Set, Match?

I love Jason and Jessica, hell I love Izzy and Nick, I'll even through Sabrina in there to because she really isn't that bad of a person

Who was your favorite character and why?

What a difficult question. Every character (with the exception of Simon) has great qualities. I can't pick, so I won't. I loved everyone of them (to include Sabrina)

Which scene was your favorite?

OMG! The love scene after Izzy's open gallery. The love between her and Jason left me envious.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES! I stayed up until 12am wanting to reach the end. Difficult task as I had two hours left and had to be up for work at 5am (although I pushed my clock until 6am). I loved it, I couldn't get to sleep because I wanted to know so badly what was going to happen next.

Any additional comments?

Ms. Nana Malone, you are talented. Please continue to write for this type of genre in the way that you've relayed Izzy, Nick's, and Jason's story. You are articulate and intelligent. I absolutely love the story and will be looking out for more. Please, please, please do audio as my job makes it difficult to read and work at the same.

Narrator

The narrator’s voice for Izzy was just cringe worthy!! Unfortunately, pretty much every African American female she narrates, sounds like they’re on helium!! I really enjoyed the story, but I couldn’t get behind this voice for this AA character…sorry!! 🤷🏽‍♀️

Narrator is annoying.

I have not finished this book yet. The narrator is so annoying when it comes to narrating the female parts. Story is ok so far.

Second chance romance

I enjoyed this book. I listened to it twice. I love the characters. She is a black lady and trying to adopt a white boy that she has raised since he was a baby. She is having difficulty with this because of the biological mother and the courts. Her “sons” tennis player idol is also her college crush. HEA. Black lady with white guy. The narration was great. I recommend this book.

Good listen, kinda too long

Narrator was good with reading and male voice but I HATED her female voice. Sounded very weak and timid, not a strong black woman that I thought Izzy was supposed to be. It took away from the story.

Mostly enjoyed it but also hated a few parts especially the second "surprise" of the book. I put " " because it's kinda predictable. Ending drama was also weird.

Is it strange I can't remember all the graphic sex the reviews mention and for most of the book thought it was very PG-13.

Really enjoyable

I really enjoyed the storyline of this one. The characters all have their own issues and needed some help to get out of their funk. I would have loved the narrator to have a little more attitude in her voice but all in all an enjoyable story
