Publisher's Summary

There are three things I know about New York so far: everybody is late for something, nobody has a freakin’ clue what sweet tea is, and King Kong himself is still alive and well and has taken the form of a growly blacksmith named Mac.

This is no shifter story, and I’m not his prey, although I wouldn’t say no if he asked for a little taste. I’ve been saddled with interviewing with the beast to secure my new dream job in publishing, but his intense stares and monosyllabic responses are making my job impossible. I just need to get this over with and move on to navigating my new life and career. I’ve got this, right?

But my professional and personal challenges are proving bigger than I realized, and Mac might be the only one who truly understands this game. He’ll be my biggest ally if I let him, and the way he keeps saying my name makes me really want to let him. The thing is, this city is known for breaking hearts, and it doesn’t care if you’re the new girl in town or the beast who calls it home.

Game Changer is a slow-burn, stand-alone romantic comedy with an emotional punch.

Opposites attract

Mac and Poppy are complete opposites, add in some humor and you have a perfect match. There is a perfect balance of humor and romance. Poppy leaves the south and moves to NYC which she believes will fulfill her dreams. That is until she meets a man. I highly recommend this book! I voluntarily listened to this on Audible.

Spoiler free review

this was a long one, but it did not feel that way once I was into it. I enjoyed it a lot, and the way the narrator was able to slip in and out of a southern accent was impressive. this story felt different from the other books by this author that I've listened to, but I still liked it a lot. there were quite a few characters but it never felt overwhelming. opposites attract is not one I read a lot of, but this was a well done example

Gets better as the story goes along.

This is listed as a romantic comedy but I honestly didn’t feel it was. There were a few times but mostly it seemed darker and more serious. That could be attributed to the male lead. He is a alpha male who is dark and broody. She refers to him as a dragon or King Kong multiple times. He says he doesn’t have a word limit a day but between you and me...I think he does. So getting his story out of him is like pulling teeth. I enjoyed the sister, Iris, and a co worker, Naveed of Poppy. They both added some flair to the story. Even Bunny, Bobby Lee and Cookie were some nice additions. This isn’t my first book by this author. I love her Carolina Series. This just seemed to reach not quite that high. The story was good and the characters had growth. The author did a good job relaying the intense attraction the two MC’s had for each other. I was saddened and irritated a few times while reading. Then I did get that big “O” of shock. I didn’t see that coming. This is a good story to me though not a rom com. I did listen to this on audio and Meg Price did a nice job.

Southern Belle In NY

Mac is a blacksmith, artist and furniture maker. He's a brooding man of few words. He is protective of his privacy. Poppy is vivacious, from Savannah Georgia. She just got a job in N.Y. at an upcoming magazine. She thought dropping her southern accent, changing her personality would be an advantage to her job. Her assignment is to get an interview with Mac. Getting him to talk, is like pulling teeth. I love how the Poppy eventually peels away each layer of Mac, just like an onion, one layer at a time. This is a fun entertaining story epecilly when Poppy is in her Southern element and looking for sweet tea in NYC.Poppy gets Mac. It took a while to build his trust, only to have it broken. Meg Price was wonderful telling this story! Giving each character their own voice and personality. I was gifted this audio and offered my honesf review

Southern Belle and her Beast

Awesome story! Slow at times but it definitely kept my interest and I did not want to stop listening. Mac and Poppy are opposites that attract. Poppy southern sass caught the attention of Mac and then they took us on a wonderful, at times heart breaking ride. The narrator brought all the characters to life especially the sexy male voice for Mac. I only wish this was told from Mac point of view as well. My first book by both narrator and author, will definitely look for more by them.

Entertaining and Sizzling Romance!

What a fun, heartfelt, slow-burn romance! Mack and Poppy are complete opposites. Poppy is a lively, sassy southern belle and Mack is a surly, brusque, alpha with a heart of gold. Poppy has moved to New York to take her dream job in publishing, and Mack is a local talented blacksmith. I love their witty banter and their awkward and hilarious encounters. They really have a sweet connection that is so endearing and a chemistry that really sizzles! They help each other professionally at first, but the big apple has rules of it's own, and could end up break their hearts instead. Meg Price was fantastic bringing this delightful story to life. She easily brought out the many different personalities of each character and her inflections were spot on, especially during Poppy's hilarious inner dialog. I really enjoyed this entertaining and sizzling romance!

Sylvie Stewart really turned my tickle box over with this meet cute rom-com about opposites attracting and the lengths required to stay together. I love how descriptive the story was and the natural southern accent of the narrator. The story had great secondary characters too. Meg Price’s narration was excellent and allowed the characters to shine in my mind. If you’re looking for a lighter listen then this is a great start!

Disappointing

The narration was fine and there were lines that were very funny which was why I tried to like it. However, I gave up 2 hours to the end! The story itself was sooooooo sloooow and it didn’t build enough interest for me to care how it ended. Unfortunate.

Beauty and the Beast

I loved this book. Honestly, it may be my favorite of Sylvie's so far. The southern girl meets her Yankee beast . The story is so descriptive it draws you in. Thanks you Sylvief for another outstanding book.

Loved the dynamics of the North meets the south

I have always known about Southern Belle's, with their charm and sweetness about them. But then I met Poppy and everything changed. Poppy is not that typical southern gal. She has spunk, and sass. She brought humor to the story like I did not expect. Mac is that alpha who is always distant and with little words. These two are as opposite as you can get, yet the chemistry was strong between them. The banter between them had me laughing out loud. Meg Price was a great Poppy. She had that southern twang when Poppy slipped it out. Meg brought Poppy to life and made her easy to relate to . Meg really brought out the spunk in Poppy. Meg had a great voice for Mac too. It was easy to determine who was speaking. Meg has an easy to listen to voice. Overall, the narration really enhanced the story.

Opposites attract

I really enjoyed this book. She is from the south, he is from the North. She is a talker that works for a magazine. He doesn’t talk unless he needs to and works alone in his own studio. I love the characters although I don’t think he is the typical romance hero. The narration is great. Standalone. HEA. I recommend this book. 🎧Audiobook Obsession

Cute stand alone

I thought the characters were cute and the storyline got more complex throughout the book, which I really liked. I would have liked to give it 4.5 stars. I loved the creative similes. They added humor to the story and illustrated the events or feelings in greater detail. This is the first time I've listened to something narrated by Meg Price. She did a great job bringing emotion (or stoicism in the case of Mac) to the characters.

Poppy and Mac!

Poppy has left her home and family in Georgia and ventured to NY to follow her dream of working at Warbey’s Home Living Magazine. She is adjusting to a much different life than the one she left behind and trying to fit in isn’t without its challenges, but meeting Mac could be her biggest challenge of all. Mac is a man with creative heart who excels at building things with metal and his hands. He is gruff and believes that actions speak louder than words, so his mannerisms say so much more than his voice. For a man who doesn’t like being around other people he is drawn to Poppy in a way that he has never felt before and can’t deny. These two are like oil and water but couldn’t be more perfect for each other. Humorous banter, hot chemistry and two characters that you can’t help but love. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and though the narrator did a great job with Poppy's southern twang and Mac's deep timbre.

Fun

The Game Changer is an enjoyable contemporary romance. The characters are fabulous and engaging. Mac, a broody alpha male, meets his match in Poppy, and her fiery personality. Their encounters, along with their battle of wills, were entertaining, and the chemistry was off the charts. Overall, this was a fun listen with some twist and turns. Meg Price did an excellent job with the narration bringing the characters to life. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Better Than Sweet Tea!

Game Changer by Sylvie Stewart pulled me in from the very beginning. I loved how the author wrote the humor and the slow burn steamy relationship of Poppy and Mac. The story also has tender and tragic moments, laugh out loud humor, vivid imagery, and some endearing characters. Meg Price was fantastic with her performance. She was flawless in switching from a Southern Accent to one without, and gave the characters distinguishable voices. I found Poppy to be a feisty and compelling character, who moved from Savannah to NYC, yet kept her quirkiness. This book truly is amazing! I loved it.

This is fantastic

I very nearly died listening to this one I’ve laughed so hard. The humour is amazing, the characters are so well written and the narrator was so very talented. There is just enough of everything in this book, drama, humour and oh so swoon romance. This is a book that’s needed in your library a perfect laugh out loud book.
