Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

I’ve got a serious problem, and it goes by the name of Ted Jones. Even his name is nerdy! Combine that with his glasses, lean runner’s frame, crazy smarts, and superhero addiction, and he’s got my lady engine revving hard. What can I say? I’ve got a thing for hot nerds. But our shy glances and awkward exchanges in the elevator aren’t going to cut it. This nerd is mine; he just doesn’t know it yet.

He's a billionaire heir. A grump supreme. Hater of people. Bigger hater of peopling with people. And my new fake boyfriend. "Emotionally unavailable" doesn’t even begin to describe Hayes Rutherford. He has more defenses than a nuclear missile silo. And he’s the ultimate catch of the century. At least, according to his bank statement. My job’s simple: Keep all interested ladies away from the walled-off heir, by pretending to be his one true love. But you know what they say about fake-dating a billionaire: It’s all fun and games, until the scandals start.

It’s been two years since the divorce papers slapped Jenna in the face, and it’s high time to dive back in. Step one: find a romance-novel-worthy man for a hot summer fling. How hard could it be? But disastrously bad flirting, a failed honky-tonk hookup, and a mix-up with one of Sunview’s finest have Jenna seriously doubting if this is all worth it. Maybe she’s better off leaving the world of love and sex to others...or maybe, she’s just looking in the wrong place.

I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

Still riding the high from last night, I walk in to meet my new client, and he’s wearing that same dangerous smirk. Yes, I’m consulting for Callahan Sharpe. That Callahan Sharpe. If you’re a single man, preferably mid-20s to late-30s, and are in a similar situation, we might be a match. Candidate must be handsome, charming, and willing to pretend to have feelings for me (on a sliding scale, as the event requires). Ability to discuss a wide variety of topics is a plus. Must have your own transportation and a (legal) job. In exchange for your time, I will give you mine. If interested, please email me. Time is of the essence.

Publisher's Summary
There are three things I know about New York so far: everybody is late for something, nobody has a freakin’ clue what sweet tea is, and King Kong himself is still alive and well and has taken the form of a growly blacksmith named Mac.
This is no shifter story, and I’m not his prey, although I wouldn’t say no if he asked for a little taste. I’ve been saddled with interviewing with the beast to secure my new dream job in publishing, but his intense stares and monosyllabic responses are making my job impossible. I just need to get this over with and move on to navigating my new life and career. I’ve got this, right?
But my professional and personal challenges are proving bigger than I realized, and Mac might be the only one who truly understands this game. He’ll be my biggest ally if I let him, and the way he keeps saying my name makes me really want to let him. The thing is, this city is known for breaking hearts, and it doesn’t care if you’re the new girl in town or the beast who calls it home.
Game Changer is a slow-burn, stand-alone romantic comedy with an emotional punch.

Great Read
Game Changer was a great read by Sylvie Stewart. Poppy left everything behind to move to New York. While in New York she meets a blacksmith named Mac. She must interview Mac to secure her dream job in publishing, but he makes it nearly impossible to complete. Mac may just end up being her biggest ally if she allows him to be. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

this was a long one, but it did not feel that way once I was into it. I enjoyed it a lot, and the way the narrator was able to slip in and out of a southern accent was impressive. this story felt different from the other books by this author that I've listened to, but I still liked it a lot. there were quite a few characters but it never felt overwhelming. opposites attract is not one I read a lot of, but this was a well done example

Gets better as the story goes along.
This is listed as a romantic comedy but I honestly didn’t feel it was. There were a few times but mostly it seemed darker and more serious. That could be attributed to the male lead. He is a alpha male who is dark and broody. She refers to him as a dragon or King Kong multiple times. He says he doesn’t have a word limit a day but between you and me...I think he does. So getting his story out of him is like pulling teeth.
I enjoyed the sister, Iris, and a co worker, Naveed of Poppy. They both added some flair to the story. Even Bunny, Bobby Lee and Cookie were some nice additions.
This isn’t my first book by this author. I love her Carolina Series. This just seemed to reach not quite that high. The story was good and the characters had growth. The author did a good job relaying the intense attraction the two MC’s had for each other. I was saddened and irritated a few times while reading. Then I did get that big “O” of shock. I didn’t see that coming. This is a good story to me though not a rom com. I did listen to this on audio and Meg Price did a nice job.

Southern Belle In NY
Mac is a blacksmith, artist and furniture maker. He's a brooding man of few words. He is protective of his privacy. Poppy is vivacious, from Savannah Georgia. She just got a job in N.Y. at an upcoming magazine. She thought dropping her southern accent, changing her personality would be an advantage to her job. Her assignment is to get an interview with Mac. Getting him to talk, is like pulling teeth. I love how the Poppy eventually peels away each layer of Mac, just like an onion, one layer at a time. This is a fun entertaining story epecilly when Poppy is in her Southern element and looking for sweet tea in NYC.Poppy gets Mac. It took a while to build his trust, only to have it broken.
Meg Price was wonderful telling this story! Giving each character their own voice and personality.

Fun, love and emotion
I’m having the best time reading (listening) my way through Sylvie Stewart’s back catalogue. Game Changer is a standalone novel and not connected to any other of Ms Stewart’s books - although I wouldn’t be averse to reading more from other people from this group, especially Poppy’s sister.
Poppy is a magazine editor who has just landed her dream job in New York. She loves her small Georgia hometown and her tight-knit family and friends - but she feels she has to spread her wings in the big city. In order to fit in, Poppy finds herself toning down her Southern-ness, and struggling to fit in, while also struggling with the big, broody and maddening Mac, the reclusive star she has to interview in order to keep her job.
I have to start with the narrator of this story as she is absolute perfection in her role. Now I’m not American, so I can’t really testify to the authenticity of her accent, but she sounded exactly what I would expect a southern gal to sound. Meg Price also really adds the sass and spark of Poppy, and her character just shines through. To be honest, I could have listened to Ms Price’s voice forever. Glorious! The book is also written solely from Poppy’s point of view, which means more from Meg Price, and I don’t have to complain about one narrator reading both points of view.
With the story only coming from Poppy’s point of view, it also lends itself to the mystery of Mac. We only ever know what Poppy knows which is great for the slow burn, gradual build of feelings and chemistry between her and Mac. It’s hard, then, to describe Mac as a character except to say he’s a beast of man - burly, grumpy, brooding and suspicious, especially of Poppy and her motives. But he was also tenacious and his blindsiding of Poppy as the pair start to date, was unexpected and adorable. And extra points for all the handholding in the book. There’s something surprisingly arousing about a grumpy man enjoying the simple connection of holding his sunshine’s hand. Sigh.
As the story builds, there’s a nice amount of heat with our couple and I really felt the developing relationship and feelings between them. I also enjoyed the story thread running through the love story. It was interesting and while not a big mystery, I didn’t see the outcome of that coming. I also liked the way Poppy’s feelings about her move from a small town to big city, and missing her friends and family, was handled. It was emotive but not too heavy; it felt exactly right.
There were also a good amount of secondary characters. None that overshadowed our main pair or their story, but they just added something extra. Naveed and Poppy’s sister are definitely worth a mention. Oh and Poppy’s grandma and her pearls of ‘wisdom’ before each chapter.
As always with Sylvie Stewart’s stories we get a whole heap of humour added in with the romance. I laughed out loud on so many occasions and generally had such a good time listening to this story.
Anyway, with that said, this is another fun and delicious story from Sylvie Stewart and one that I very much enjoyed getting stuck into. Definitely a recommended read/listen and very worthy of 5 full stars.

Poppy James is the perfect amount of Southern sweet & sassy. She’s the kind of character you can’t help but love.
Mac is hot, broody, and even a dash of sweet.
These two make the perfect combination.
This story is full of laughs, struggles, & family!

Laugh out loud
I so enjoyed listening Meg Price perfect for this book.
I found myself laughing out loud, and it did not stop ,
The characters are well written , you have charm, fun, intrigue, a great story line . Oh yes romance .
Mac is your growly alpha male, whilst Poppy is the fun and joy, a perfect couple, they work so well

Different but just as enjoyable
This story has much more depth than others I have read from Sylvie Stewart. Mack's personality is very withdrawn from experiences in his family life, whereas Poppy seems to be his total opposite, bright and breezy with the determination to succeed in her new job in New York. It is enthralling to see them develop their relationship despite the obstacles that come along. The narrator did a fabulous job of bringing all the characters to life and I highly recommend this book.

Loved the dynamics of the North meets the south
I have always known about Southern Belle's, with their charm and sweetness about them. But then I met Poppy and everything changed. Poppy is not that typical southern gal. She has spunk, and sass. She brought humor to the story like I did not expect. Mac is that alpha who is always distant and with little words. These two are as opposite as you can get, yet the chemistry was strong between them. The banter between them had me laughing out loud.
Meg Price was a great Poppy. She had that southern twang when Poppy slipped it out. Meg brought Poppy to life and made her easy to relate to . Meg really brought out the spunk in Poppy. Meg had a great voice for Mac too. It was easy to determine who was speaking. Meg has an easy to listen to voice. Overall, the narration really enhanced the story.

Opposites attract
I really enjoyed this book. She is from the south, he is from the North. She is a talker that works for a magazine. He doesn’t talk unless he needs to and works alone in his own studio. I love the characters although I don’t think he is the typical romance hero. The narration is great. Standalone. HEA. I recommend this book.

Cute stand alone
I thought the characters were cute and the storyline got more complex throughout the book, which I really liked. I would have liked to give it 4.5 stars. I loved the creative similes. They added humor to the story and illustrated the events or feelings in greater detail.
This is the first time I've listened to something narrated by Meg Price. She did a great job bringing emotion (or stoicism in the case of Mac) to the characters.

Poppy and Mac!
Poppy has left her home and family in Georgia and ventured to NY to follow her dream of working at Warbey’s Home Living Magazine. She is adjusting to a much different life than the one she left behind and trying to fit in isn’t without its challenges, but meeting Mac could be her biggest challenge of all.
Mac is a man with creative heart who excels at building things with metal and his hands. He is gruff and believes that actions speak louder than words, so his mannerisms say so much more than his voice. For a man who doesn’t like being around other people he is drawn to Poppy in a way that he has never felt before and can’t deny.
These two are like oil and water but couldn’t be more perfect for each other. Humorous banter, hot chemistry and two characters that you can’t help but love. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and though the narrator did a great job with Poppy's southern twang and Mac's deep timbre.
