Publisher's Summary

Written by the renowned Fyodor Dostoyevsky, a maker of classics and a literary genius, each of his works offers a powerful and thought-provoking exploration of human nature, philosophy, society, and religion.

Inside this collection of timeless masterpieces, you’ll find three of Dostoyevsky’s most famous works - the gripping, drama-packed The Brothers Karamazov; a powerful account of a naive prince returning to his homeland and finding a world ready to take advantage of him in The Idiot; and finally, a deep and thought-provoking novel about an impoverished student who, upon pushing himself to murder to get by, struggles with the guilt and ramifications as his actions and beliefs haunt him in the 1866 novel Crime and Punishment.

Standing the test of time, each of Dostoyevsky’s renowned works reflect his masterfulness in prose, character, and offer a harsh reflection of 19th century Russian life and the nation’s tremulous past.

ugh the narrator

I just couldn't finish this because of the narrator. The intonation makes it seem like an infomercial.

Classics -- all should read; frustrating audiobook

No need to comment on the Russian master, Dostoyevsky. Three great books; do need to get used to the names and nicknames. The audio book is truly annoying to use. I wanted to start with Crime and Punishment. Ugh!! Took me twenty-plus minutes of hunting and searching, as it is the second title of the three. C'mon Man! I'd have expected this weak set of features ten years ago.

a literary and historical masterpiece BUT

This work is one of the greatest literary masterpieces. And this fact is precisely why you do not allow a terrible narrator loose on it. After about 5 minutes this audio presentation begins to shut down the attention and replace it with rage. It's arguable a dyslexic 8 year could do a better job. I had to return this production. A first time event for me. I mean could not the narrator realise his awful inability to convey the messages of this great literary work and immediately quit? Arguably worse, could not the producers recognise it went pear-shaped in the first 5 minutes and halted its continuation rather than letting it roll on for tens of hours. A shameful act by producers and narrator. Avoid them. But do get the titles independently and listen to a sample first.

earplugs required

oh my goodness the narration! this book has been ruined. the reading style, if you could call it that, is something like a child learning to read. the emphasis the pronunciation the punctuation everything is dreadful. I would have given it minus stars for overall and performance but the system requires me to put 1. the story would have been wonderful if I could listen to it properly 90hrs? I couldn't manage the 1st chapter. I had to get a refund but rather than do that make sure you have a good listen to the sample before buying
