Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

A Classic Mystery with Wonderful Characters
- By Robert on 12-22-08
By: Stieg Larsson, and others
Publisher's Summary
Dorina Basarab is a dhampir - half-human, half-vampire. Subject to uncontrollable rages, most dhampirs live very short, very violent lives. But so far, Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing....
Dory is used to fighting hard and nasty. So when she wakes up in a strange scientific lab with a strange man standing over her, her first instinct is to take his head off. Luckily, the man is actually the master vampire Louis-Cesare, so he's not an easy kill. It turns out that Dory had been working with a Vampire Senate task force on the smuggling of magical items and weaponry out of Faerie when she was captured and brought to the lab. But when Louis-Cesare rescues her, she has no memory of what happened to her. To find out what was done to her - and who is behind it - Dory will have to face off with fallen angels, the maddest of mad scientists, and a new breed of vampires that are far worse than undead.

The word for Fury's Kiss is....awesome
What did you love best about Fury's Kiss?
I loved the non-stop action and character development. No one plots action as well as Karen Chance.
What other book might you compare Fury's Kiss to and why?
I would compare this to the other Midnight's Daughter books and the Cassie Palmer series.
Which scene was your favorite?
I loved the scene when Ray and Dory go shopping for "supplies" for the fae. Laugh out loud funny.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I think it has to be the final scene between Louis-Cesar and Dory.
Any additional comments?
It has taken me a while to get used to Joyce Bean's narration of this series, particularly the voice of Mircea, as well as other male voices. The exception is the voice of Ray, which I think she gets just right.

A little conveluted at times but good
I liked this a lot but I had to back up and go over a couple parts as she jumped from one reality to the next. It was ok once you got the thread of it.
The narrator did a good job. I like her voice and I never had any trouble following her beyond that of the story oddities I mentioned before.
Lots and lots of action and an ending that should be very interesting when we get to the next book.

thanks to the reader reviews
I really like Karen Chance's work. The reviews I read about the narration in this series made me go to print for the first book. I know Joyce Bean's narration is good but fans were not fond of Mircea's voice or Marlow. I am not fond of her choices with these characters either but by the time I read the first book in print I was hooked on the series. I bought the last book published at the time from audible figuring that the narration would have gotten better over time. I seem to listen to it over and over again. For one thing this book does have an intricate plot but for another the humor is so well done both in the writing and narration that it remains fun every time I hear it. I eventually went backward with the purchases. The second book is very funny.
I like Joyce Bean's narration and these books are a challenge. While I am not fond of some of her vocal choices she handles the humor with great skill and is an asset to the series.
I like the characters in this series and the humor is so well integrated with the characters that it seems just easy to want time with them. It is hard to know why people choose to read one series or another and even harder to know how to share a discovered fondness. The readers of this series are enthusiastic for good reason and I am grateful for their reviews. I started from back to front because I really like the characters from the Cassie Palmer series and a vocal shift on shared characters is upsetting. I got over it.

A bit confusing!!!
I like this author I like her Cassie series as well as this one. The narrator is ok although i'm often distracted when she talks so long she runs out of breath. The book is good but confusing at times it jumps around with out notice and sometimes you have to rewind because you think you have missed something. She may have noticed this because at the end she took a while to explain exactly what happened then your like ohhhhh ok I get it. So again the book is good you just have to pay close attention and maybe rewind a few times to try to keep up.
