Publisher's summary

In the seventh installment of Coreene Callahan's bestselling Dragonfury series, a hard-edged dragon shifter must find mercy in order to save an innocent woman's life.

A man on the warpath . . .

Dragon warrior Gage has earned his brutal reputation. He strikes hard and fast, killing without mercy or remorse. But with the Nightfury lair full of females and a newly adopted son to protect, his ability to focus takes a hit. When one mistake leads to another, putting an innocent woman on enemy radar, he's forced to decide—keep her safe by taking her with him or roll the dice and hope she goes unnoticed by the Razorback pack.

The woman in his way . . .

Samantha Redhook isn't a pushover. She floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee. But with her business failing, desperation pushes her to take a contract she normally wouldn't have, landing her in a world of trouble. Can she save the situation before things get worse or will an error judgment put an end to her dreams, and then her life?

Contains mature themes.

narration with accent sucked

The narrator was different - that was bad enough but everyone doing a European accent took away from the story and was very distracting. The story was already a little different than the others - it was trying to tell too many stories. Very unsatisfying

Amazing book by an amazing author!

This is an amazing book, and the only thing that brings it down is the narrator. It is not the male we loved and grew accustomed to. Her pronunciation of names is very different and takes a bit to get used to.

Research!

I love the Dragon Fury series, but this reader made me almost turn it off and ask for my money back. next time do some research! listen to all the other books before you take a project, and if you are struggling with an accent, just don't do it! we aren't looking for accents we are looking for the core personality. you made them sound soo slow and dumb! not saying that the read was absolutely horrible, because when she wasn't try so hard it flowed faster. please if you can't, just don't!

4.25 Stars 🌟

This is a series that I began several years ago and got to the end of the published books at that time. Reading as many books as I do, it is sometimes difficult to remember the specific details of books from years ago, but I actually was surprised with the fact that I did seem to remember most of the plot and the characters (dragons).

This book focuses on Gage - a metallic dragon who is over 200 years old. Gage has adopted a male youngling dragon Oswald who, much to his surprise, found that he loved him as a son almost immediately. Oz was tortured horrifically by Rodin and Zidane, and Gage can understand because he was also thrown in a prison and tortured by Zidane before he was rescued by his pack.

There is a lot going on in this story. There is the Gage story arc with him finding his mate Samantha Redhook. Sam is a goldsmith and is crafting the medallion for Gage that he was going to give to Oswald to show that he is truly a member of the NightFury's pack.

Unfortunately, Sam gets placed in the middle of a fight between Gage and the Razorback pack and surprisingly also with Zidane. Zidane has unexpectedly appeared in town along with an Archguard commissioned kill squad. Gage immediately realizes that Sam is his mate and he also knows that his dragon is not going to let her go. Luckily, Sam seems to be onboard with this.

There is also the storyline of the evil dragon Ivar and his experiments that he is conducting on HE females, females that he has kidnapped and holding in cages at his lab. Then, there is Azard, B's brother, who is undercover with the Razorbacks to try to find and rescue the women.

Oh, and that doesn't even include Zidane's storyline of the plans he has of overthrowing Ivar as the leader of the Razorback pack.

See, lots going on.....

Felicity Munroeis the narrator of this book and does a good job with all of the various accents. I always preface this by saying that as an American, I really don't know the difference between a proper English accent and an Irish accent - so I'm assuming that they are correct. Either way, there are very many different nationalities in this story and I enjoyed listening to the way she performed them.

We are getting closer and closer to the Meridian alignment and how that is going to affect the dragons.

So, I'm off to book 8. Things are moving and I'm excited to see where things are going.

Narration sucks

Why would you have a female narrator when the main characters are primarily male. The accents she gave the characters were nothing like the previous 6 books and horrible. it was absolutely painful to listen to and i stopped listening immediately. I read the book instead imaging the voices from the previous narrators. I really hope Sloans book uses one of the previous narrators since I already prepaid for the book. loved the overall story and I love the series.

Why did you change narrators?

The story is from a male perspective! Why is there a woman narrating? The accents are terrible. The names Roden and Zadane are pronounced wrong. She could have at least listened to the other books for pronunciations.

No offense to the narrator. The author chose wrong,
