not worth the time
this book was unbelievably predictable. the author could have used an editor so many words were repeated and the wrong language was used consistently throughout the book. The narrator was mediocre at best did not change her voice for different characters and when she did it didn't match the acts that they had previously.

Would of gave 5 stars but....
I really enjoyed the story but Nathalie voice is so cringe. I don't know how to explain it, I wanna say it was like listening to bad acting if that makes sense. This is the 4th book I've listened to by Lise Gold, I absolutely love her books but I hope she never use this narrator again.

This wasn't that bad
You know, the narrator wasn't great but was ok, her accents were terrible and the story was ok but the characters are kinda stupid because even though they're both rich or well off, they seem to make choices that they know would make them unhappy. Like Nathalie for example, her problem is literally she doesn't want to sit around all day so her solution is to take a job in Singapore! However I did like their little relationship build up, it was sweet. I also want to add this: doing things that feel right, CAN be wrong just an fyi Lise Gold, it doesn't actually justify anything like murder or theft or adultery so... yeah, I actually laughed out loud while I was at the gym because the conversation that this phrase came up in was just too much. I can't believe anyone would actually write this let alone say it lol.

Couldn't get past breathy, affected narration
I didn't make it past the first chapter. Even for the portion I listened to, I tuned out frequently because the narration was poorly directed and executed to the point of becoming annoying.
From what I heard when I focused, the writing and story seemed average.
I was terrified of the possibility of hearing this narrator read smut aloud. I couldn't keep going.

I enjoy this author. the stories I've listened to have been fun and romantic. I can only guess that my blasé response to this one had more to do with the narrator. it wasn't the worst I've heard but it definitely detracted from the "feels" of the story.

A NICE ROMP IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE
Lise set this book in the South of France near monte carlo. We are shown the French openness, love of food and wine and of nature in both gardening and art.
We meet Lea and Nathalie. Lea runs her own guest house and Nathalie has gone to France after a divorce and company buy out by her husband. As you are brought through this story we meet other wonderful characters and more secrets revealed. Another winner
The only reason I gave a low rating for performance is when I first heard Tessa Stavers I couldn't pick out the individual characters as they were both American but after a while I got used to her voice and it didn't ruin the story.
