Publisher's Summary

Fresh from the success of capturing Gwain’s Keep, Alpha Company is in high spirits. Flush with coin, everyone is eager to get better gear and see what new zones they can go fight in.

Not everything is roses though, as the first testing phase is about to come to an end. A number of those who ventured forth with the guild are about to return to their regular lives, and the next wave of testers brings even more players to embrace Alpha World as their new reality, if only for a limited time.

Alburet has new complications to deal with, but he doesn’t have to face them alone. Two other loving women - Fluffball and Karen - whom he has accepted the love of will be at his side as the revelation of his past comes out.

Will Alburet be able to handle what he has hidden from himself, with the love of the trio of women beside him? Or will he break and fail, leaving his spirit fractured?

Well, Not For Me

I truly enjoyed the first book, and the second book was a wonderful listen as well. However, it seems that the author has lost touch with the fan base... it now seems like a LitRPG based off of a romance novel. Might be good for some people, but not for me. I've gone through perhaps 9 hours or the novel so far... only listening to 50 minutes or so of actual content that wasn't related to feeling-searching, multi-species and multiple partner sex, and a protagonist who lets others lead him around.

Yeah. Not for me.

1 page of actual rpg for every 10 pages of bedroom

first 2 books were good. then just feelings and sex. Very little world building and lots of repeated junk. i didn't want to get this book but i was hopeful. Just about the same as the 4th book. if you liked 4th book then this is the book for you.

Circling the Drain

I've about had it with this series. While the narrator is exceptional as usual, the author has focused most of his attention on his uninteresting harem fantasy and very little on what we like about LitRPG - the gaming. What originally began as an interesting story has continued to devolve into a sloppy, soppy Emo pukefest. Our protagonist has become such a whiney little crybaby that the story has become unlistenable. There is very little story line advancement in this book beyond Alburet's implausible reasons for being such an emotional basket case. Definitely not my favorite.

horrible

this book is so bad I can't believe I listened to as much as I did. let me save anyone thinking about listening to this streaming pile. it goes something like threesome, then talk about their feelings, then the need to be loved, then more feelings, followed my rub downs and baths, then some food and more rub downs and feelings talk. There might be two fights and three or four minutes of what sounds like LITRPG, then more three and foursomes, and feelings talk. It's so bad that I will never read another book by this author.

less romance more action please

With each book there's less and less action and more lovey dovey nonsense. They must say kiss 15 thousand times, and the pet names are excruciatingly cringey.

Couldn’t make it past the first hour

I loved the first 2 books. The last 2 have gone away from what I love about litrpg. The books are now more about group sex and less about dungeons, loot, grinding, leveling, and building a class. I did enjoy the character development and going into their memories but it’s eclipsed by the over sexualization.

It’s a shame. I was very into the characters and development of the guild but I’m out.

10% great story 90% repetitive filler

I really enjoyed the previous books. Even tho it went a little hard the sex but I didn't mind. but this book is just useless filler. it ends on a cliff hanger that could have been in the middle of the story if it didn't just have all padding.

Poorly written so now the main character sounds like a sleazy car salesmen at this point. other characters are just too simple and borning.

sad part is that little bit of real story is great but it's surrounded by a sea of meh.

Gaming good, crappy psychology bad

Love all the guild, gaming and raid parts of story. Hate the character Fluff and any dialogue about or with her.

Long on suffering, short on satisfaction.

Author spends too much time agonizing over internal cutesy, while the story of alpha company goes nowhere. Fluff meet Al.. 13 hours later..nada

Too much sex, not enough story

I've worked my way through the other books so was excited when I saw this one had been released, now it's finished I feel it's the weakest so far. there wasn't enough adventuring and with too much time spent on the sex the book was over before it really got going. The narrator was very easy to listen to as he was previously.

Strayed from what makes LIT RPG’s great

I feel like Daniel has strayed from what makes lit RPG’s great ( adventures. Epic quests, loot, boss battles and leveling up). I saw it in the last book but thought I’d give this one a chance before I make a decision. He’s concentrating to much on the drama and mental health between the characters. I feel like the majority of story I’m sitting in a therapist office.

Wonderful Escapism

There's something about this series. It's absolutely not the greatest story ever written, some of the plot lines are dragging out too long and it can't seem to decide how adult it wants to be, but I find myself looking forward to each new book, thoroughly enjoying the performance and then being disappointed that the next one isn't yet available. It's wonderful escapism and a really good listen.

Let down

I loved the 1st book and the following 2 but after that it’s gone down hill. The story is perhaps 90% repetitive emotional nonsense and 10% lit RPG. I doubt very much that I will continue with this series unless I have spare credits that need using. A real shame as the series showed real promise

Another brilliant edition to the series.

Books 4 and 5 are very much intertwined and are best suited to read back to back. we learn a lot about the MC and some truths behind lies we were told. This is a fabulous series and a great story.

Is the author a sex starved teenager?

I am a fan of the genre and have listened to the other books in this series. I've never thought this was the best series but like to give it a listen. This book was the worst by far though. I can ignore the 'fantasy' that all these girls just want to get with the guy and want to have all types of sex, OK whatever. The time spent on this aspect of the story though is so out of proportion it becomes tedious and you fast forward through it, if you have any sense you do anyway. I notice the author doesn't want another guy involved in the 'marriage' possibly points to his own insecurities and or inadequacy.

The dialogue has always been slightly embarrassing but it reached new lows in this book. I will keep listening in the same way i love sci-fi b movies or Steven Segal films, it's that bad it's good.

soft porn

after the first book it starts to focus more and more on sexual tension and emotionally unstable minds probably good for virgins, young teenagers or anyone who likes over dramatized soft porn. I don't think I'll continue this series
