But there is something sinister at work. Marcia is constantly trailed by a menacing Darke Shadow, and Septimus's brother Simon seems bent on a revenge no one understands. Why is the Darke Magyk still lingering?
Bringing fantasy to new heights, Angie Sage continues the journey of Septimus Heap with her trademark humor and clever details.

Any additional comments?
I kept thinking I was listening to William Joyce's"The Guardians" series - Gerard Doyle uses exactly the same style . Allan Corduner did such a good job on Magyk - I was excited to listen to him again. Why the change of narrator? Wrong choice.Wrong Narrator

As the series proceeds, the storyline doesn't presume the audience is getting older.
As a contrastive story with a slightly older female protagonist, try Patricia Wrede's "Thirteenth Child", the girl born after the seventh son of the seventh son.
Second volume, almost as good

What made the experience of listening to Flyte the most enjoyable?
The most enjoyable part of listening to this book was the continuing stories and adventures that Gena and Septimus get into from the first book, but it seems that they keep learning more and more about the town they are in and the people around them. What did you like best about this story?
Some parts seemed drawn out and it took me a minute to get into them but then other parts kept me interested and ready to hear what happened next. Parts that caught my attention dealed with the Heap boys and finding their grandfather in the woods, then all the additional secret passages and rooms in the catsle and under the castle. Just trying to figure out what will happen to Gena, and Septimus as they grow is something that is interested.Have you listened to any of Gerard Doyle’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The only other book I have listened to is the first book within this series and to me they are the same. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were several parts of the book that moved me but the end where Gena found the Queens room and her father was introduced to her those two parts stand out to me from this book. They seem like two of the turning points in the book and within Gena's life.Any additional comments?
