Publisher's Summary

The most brazen terrorist attack in history. A country bent on revenge. A love affair cut short. A heart that never truly heals.

I knew on the day of the attack that our lives were changed forever. What I didn’t know then was that I’d never see John again after he deployed. One day he was living with me, sleeping next to me, making plans with me. The next day he was gone.

That was five years ago. The world has moved on from that awful day, but I’m stuck in my own personal hell, waiting for a man who may be dead for all I know. At my sister’s wedding, I meet Eric, the brother of the groom, and my heart comes alive once again.

The world is riveted by the capture of the terrorist mastermind, brought down by US Special Forces in a daring raid. Now I am trapped between hoping I’ll hear from John and fearing what’ll become of my new life with Eric if I do.

From New York Times best-selling author, Five Years Gone is an epic story of love, honor, duty, unbearable choices and impossible dilemmas.

Outstanding!!!

Marie Force has done it with a stand alone novel that is full of all the writing ability this lady has to make a story come to life. The performers are outstanding and so glad she waited for them to do this one for her. All the emotion of the story was brought to life through their voices!

FIVE YEARS GONE, PLEASANT SURPRISE.

Story written in such away that kept you on edge. After reading every Fatal book in the series twice I was overcome by the sensitive, edgy nature of this book. I hope that we will hear from the family again.

5 WONDERFULLY AMAZING STARS!

This story has all the feels. There's love, there's loss, there's heartbreak, there's joy, happiness, betrayal, healing, emotional blackmail, acknowledging your responsibilities towards others, and I could go on, and on, and on. I just couldn't stop listening until I got to the end. There was a point that I didn't think I was going to be happy with the ending no matter what choices were made, but I was pleasantly surprised to have been wrong. I did like the way everything was handled at the end. Lovely epilogue. This will be a repeat listen for me.

Heartbreaking & Hopeful

This is one of Marie's best. How Ava held on for 5 years. How Eric was able to find love again. How John expected everything to be like it was. But, it wasn't just about these 3. You had a family dealing with the end of a family, a fiance coping from a loss of a terrible tragedy and a couple just starting their life together. I always Judge a book by my wanting to know what happens when I finish the last word. I want to know about all these characters. This gave me goosebumps when it was finished. The audible edition was great. Sometimes just hearing the words makes it more powerful.

Just...WOW!!

5 Years Gone is the best book yet by Marie Force. I was hooked on Marie's books with her "Treading Water" Series and this book reminds me of that series.
Ava and John, Ava struggling to make sense of where John is for 5 years. Ava moving back to NY to restart her life. Luckily, Eric who is just so perfect for her, she meets almost upon her return to NY. With Eric, Ava's life "begins again" ; the "Push and Pull" of the characters hearts and minds throughout the book, not just the 2 main ones, but also the secondary characters keeps you riveted to the story
I love all books Marie Force, but the depth of this book is more in the style of her earlier books.
Just stupendous!!

Unexpected Turns, but oh so Good

This book had me all twisted in places. It evoked a myriad of emotions that I couldn't name right now if I wanted. But it was such an amazing story that tugged on my heart strings in one moment while making me smile in the next. This was my first Marie Force book, but won't be my last.

What????

Can't say I liked this book. The narrators were good but the story was all over the place with chapters from too many different character's pov. Didn't care for the ending wanted you to wrap up the character she didn't choose. I just feel like it didn't finish.

Marie Force has written another hit!!

Marie has once again succeeded in writing an instant winner. I am glad that I took a chance and read a book that I thought might hit too close to home for me personally. Five Years Gone touched my heart as I read about Ava’s journey. You can’t go wrong reading this book. Congratulations Marie - I hope you have room on the wall for this framed book.
