awesome

as always erik wrote an amazing book. and Hollie did a super job reading it. i own almost all of the audio books that have been written by Erik and i will probably buy the ones i don't have as soon as i have the funds. i really can't wait till audible has all of them and all of the series in the works are finished. i work over night and audible is really the only thing that keeps me from going crazy!

I loved this book.

I loved it the first time I read this book. This story does not diminish with hearing it. Great story, Reese is a wonderful lead character. Thanks Eric Schubach and Audible for getting our favorites out in audio.

Cute love story

Super cute love story about two people who were outcasts in high school who as adults found friendship and love.

Dependable

Erik Schubach is dependable, any book in the 'Music of the Soul series will offer several opportunities for you to exercise your tear ducts. The narrating character will refer to her true love as her Goddess, or 'that vixen'. She will at some point state 'that woman will be the death of me,' as well as being moved to 'giggle at her/their antics'.
Due to an automobile accident 22 year old Reese Qualls has been in a wheelchair since she was 13. Her hot, bitchy roommates were her childhood friends until they had suddenly turned on her. Once Reese had landed in her chair they weren't any nicer to her, but they were the only people who treated her the same way they had before the accident. The 2 girls, Gwen (a softer version of Missy Hannigan from A Deafening Whisper) and Marcie, Gwen's mini-me, who has been attempting to win Gwen's approval since they were 7. the 3 girls now share an apartment and both girls, especially Gwen, regularly take advantage of Reece.
Reece has elements of Mia Jacobs, Leigh from the short 'Wallflower' and carries the outward damage that at least one of the series ingenue's always have. As you listen to this extremely short, and quick moving story the author attempts to move the reader (listener) through several situations with enough sentiment to have you reaching regularly for the tissue box. The main character will inevitably go through a crisis from which she flees, making said problem worse. Hopefully the author will not have anyone suffer the severe consequences that befell Silent Bob.
Then there is the ultimate reconciliation that is the essence of the genre, one that so often comes across as weak and totally contrived. With this author however there is always enough real emotion to overcome this oft repeated cliched plot device. Once again the author has penned another of the excellent stories available in the series.

Like a Highschool Drama

This was a cute book about tragedy and loss, repressed emotions and friendship. It was pretty simply written but is no less important of a message. I enjoyed this book, the narrator is good about having different voices for each character and does a decent job of displaying emotion that made the book enjoyable to listen to.

great story and the narration is fantastic

I had read the book before and enjoyed the story. It didn't quite grab me and pull me in like other books in the series but it was an enjoyable read for a deeper look at the world of this series. I was excited to see Hollie Jackson as the narrator because she does such a fabulous job bringing the characters to life. I was not disappointed to find that the great narration made this book more enjoyable for me.

Wonderfully written not keen of reader. The voice just doesn't fit with the story. I will look up more audio books from the author.

Where does Five Feet or Less rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

If I were to pick a rank it would definitely be at no. 2, karaoke queen being no.1, But this one came close i'll tell you that. the emotions that it gave me were something that i couldn't explain. whenever I would read the book it never fails to make me bawling like a child. the character development was something else. and now to hear it, with such a talented narrator, I cried so much as I did with Karaoke Queen.

What other book might you compare Five Feet or Less to and why?

I don't think I can compare this book to another. each book has an element of uniqueness to it and by simply comparing two books to one another makes it seem more of a competition rather than simply enjoying the wonderful stories, the artists put down. this book is unique in it's own right, a hurt/comfort story, with something more in between.

Which character – as performed by Hollie Jackson – was your favorite?

In this book specifically I loved how she voiced Sara's Mom, Anne. I loved the deep and spunky voice Hollie had given her and the way she talked was amazing, especially the scene with the phone.

Who was the most memorable character of Five Feet or Less and why?

Reese of course, other than the fact that she is the main character. I loved the fact that she is strong and that strength helps her each day to continue on. I love that she can feel weak, because everyone, and I mean EVERYONE needs a break sometimes and to let others help them in that weakness, it gets tiring holding the weight of the world on your shoulders all the time, a little rest is not bad.

Any additional comments?

As I've said on the Headline, remember to bring tissues because this is one hell of a ride. Five feet or less is something different, and unique. The characters have their own personalities and color that they are not boring and bland. If you've read the book, I recommend you to listen to this because if reading the book made you cry, then listening to it would be a different story. and If you haven't read the book, then what are you waiting for? if you enjoy a good read with loads of emotions then make sure to pick up Five Feet or Less.

Emotional

Wow! Erik Schubach's books are always great but this one was so emotional. I wasn't expecting this!!! Five Feet or Less literally had me chocking back tears several times. It's a beautiful story about a girl who loses her parents at a young age and the use of her legs. She grew up in foster care and didn't seem to have any friends after the accident that put her in a wheelchair. She didn't know it, but she always did have two friends looking out for her. As an adult, she rarely left the house so she hardly ever met anyone, so no friends or relationships. She would talk to people through online gaming and through her tech job she did from home. On one of her rare occasions out of the house she bumps into a very rude woman at the coffee shop. Later that day she bumps into the same rude woman in a lesbian bar when she gets called out to fix a wireless issue. After talking with Sarah, the rude girl, they decide to swap info and meet up again. Sarah constantly brings Reese out of her comfort zone and out into the world. Slowly, Reese starts to discover what her two friends knew all along. She's gay. Very beautiful story I highly recommend. Hollie Jackson does an amazing job with the narration!

What a great book. I highly recommend this one to everyone. I have already listened to it twice.
