Story
Minalan gave up a promising career as a professional warmage to live the quiet life of a village spellmonger in the remote mountain valley of Boval. It was a peaceful, beautiful little fief, far from the dangerous feudal petty squabbles of the Five Duchies, on the world of Callidore. There were cows. Lots of cows. And cheese. For six months things went well: He found a quaint little shop, he befriended the local lord, the village folk loved him, he found a sharp young apprentice to help out, and, best yet, he met a comely young widow with the prettiest eyes.

Always good, Surprise Twist
Where does First and Last Sorcerer rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is another great Eby book, that is not overwhelmingly the annoying Winn character. Although, this was weird in that when Magiere was first rescued and in very bad shape, Leesil did not stay by her side. Instead, he would close the door and sit in the front room with the others despite the author writing that he cared for her. I wondered if this was foreshadowing his having grown weary of dealing with her and he was going to leave her. Instead, it was just a poorly written scene. Also, the lack of detail regarding their months of suffering in the castle was odd, but still a good story
Any additional comments?
This book was lacked the cohesiveness of other Eby books, like why would you not sit with the person you love while they are recovering, why would they be convinced one among them had betrayed them, but still accept him in the group, why even mention the elf's ruining their breakout plan with his failure to kill others but then never address it. Other such things, but still a good story.
