A breathtaking finale to an unforgettable trilogy
My friend and I got into the Silverwing trilogy recently. This is truly such a gripping story for young adults and even most audiances alike. I never thought I would care for bats so much, but Kenneth Oppel has become a new favorite.

Good Book
What did you love best about Firewing?
I love it because, shade is such a hard worker for his family, the only thing that I didn't like was that when the book finished it didn't feel like it was done mentally or in general.

A great conclusion to a childhood favorite
I reread this series to see if one of my childhood favorites held up as an adult, and I am pleased to say it did not disappoint. Exiting and fast paced, emotional and humorous, it has everything you could want. There are interesting themes and existential questions provided in a easily consumable way for young readers, and well-realized characters that stick with you long after you finish.

Feels incomplete
While memorable, the ending to what is otherwise a great childhood series feels empty and incomplete. This book descends into the underworld like a Greek myth. And while the sound magic is exciting, the philosophical ideas come before the story. I feel the characters deserved better. Or perhaps the depressing idea that evil is always relentless without end is not why I read any fantasy story.
