Publisher's summary

In dangerous Fort Dallas, Rachel is untouchable. All she has to do is hand over her panties every day. Sure, it's weird, but it keeps her safe, right? And if there's a reason behind it, she doesn't care.

Until she finds out that she's dragon bait. That changes things.

To stay in the fort's sheltering walls, Rachel needs to "befriend" a dragon and establish a mental connection with him. Drakoni male Jurik may be protective of her, and caring...but he's still a dragon, and just as lost to the madness as any of them. He can't be trusted. No dragon can. Rachel wears the scars from the last time she tangled with one, so seducing one seems absurd.

Or...is it?

Because Jurik doesn't see her scars...all he sees is her. Is he her worst nightmare? Or everything she needed?

Contains mature themes.

I usually enjoy this series.

I’ve been reading this series from its very beginning and I’ve been looking forward to the next installment. Unfortunately, I didn’t really care for this book

The heroine was a waffle - she went back-and-forth and back-and-forth and back-and-forth, where the other heroines in the previous books were all very self-assured in spite of handicaps or losses.

This heroine gave so many mixed signals I felt sorry for the poor dragon. And it seemed to drag on for too long. I think we were in chapter 20-something when they finally got together after a lot of back and forth and confusion.

There is only one single point of action, too. There was lots of action in the other books where the main characters ran into various people and had to get out of various situations. In this book, there was just one single event. After that, the book was over. Bleh.

Great story!

I love it when authors have main characters that aren't perfect. Taking someone with scars and missing limbs and turning them into a sexy heroine is awesome and Ruby did it very well. Also really liked the arc when Jurik thinks he's been played and the drama that caused. It was done so well and not drawn out into an hours long poor me narrative. I can't wait for the next book to find out more about the rift and the next couple! Narrators again were wonderful, Thank you so much Noelle and Jeremy for all the work you put into making this audio book so wonderful.

Utterly Utterly UTTERLY too much use of the word Utterly.

From book one I liked the premise of the stories, but there were things that were cringe worthy. Thankfully the author has backed off of some of the tacky trashy words she was using early in the series. That has helped a lot. But please invest in a thesaurus and use the darn thing. There are lots of words that could be used in the place of utterly. I feel bad for the readers having to say it over and over. It’s utterly annoying at this point, and I’m utterly tired of hearing it.
As this series goes on, it’s basically like listening to the same book with a few details changed to adapt the story a little bit for the new characters. Lots of dragons learning to kiss and chewing off their claws. Lol

Love the ongoing big stakes plot

Another gem from Ruby! I have to admit that this is not my favorite of the Rubyverses, but this is a strong book with likable characters and it moves the overarching story along. Plus, jerk guard gets what’s coming to him from a dragon, which is always a plus!

The mystery deepens

Loved this so much they are kind of finding more about the rift. Also…maybe some of the mindless dracons may not be so mislead. Love it❣️

Some of those dragons got to be ugly. IJS

Beauty is only skin deep. How can a whole slew of dragons be good looking. That does not seem fair.

Quite entertaining

This series has an interesting storyline and each book is moving it forward; I can’t wait to see what the rift holds, it sounds quite menacing. The naïveté of Rachel was a bit much at times, she was such a tease and waffler. Jeremy and Noelle are doing a great job narrating. I have missed this series and back now to finish it or listen to the remaining books left in series.

👏👏👏❤️

another great story!! back to the fort that started it all, Azar now in charge. the panty program was creative and kinda funny to imagine. I liked that we started with a semi sane dragon this time to switch things up a bit. I love this series and the narration is fantastic. sometimes the human females seem a bit dense and they fixate on others a bit too much kinda detracting from the couple vibes at times.... but overall it's fantastic. things took an unexpected turn to finally glimpse the rift up close.
