Publisher's summary

Ellison Jones is used to sirens in the night (unfortunately, they're usually coming to her house).

So, it's a surprise when the sirens that wake her from the dead come from across the street.

Nosy neighbor Marian Dixon's house is on fire.

Luckily, the Dixons are out of town.

Unluckily, there's a body found in the ashes—a body not killed by the fire.

With Ellison's husband, Detective Anarchy Jones, investigating, the neighbors are eager for a quick resolution. But a cunning killer has other plans.

Can Ellison and Anarchy uncover the truth, or will their lives (and the rest of the block) go up in flames?

Love these books!

These books ever fail to entertain me! I love them as growing up in the 70’s - so many of the things she writes about make me smile with memories! And the story lines are perfect! Only downfall-we need more books faster! Lol!

Fire & Rain

Another stupendously terrific story in the country club mysteries by Julie Mulhern. Now comes the hard part: waiting for the next book in the series!

This series just keeps getting better and better

Love the way this series has taken a turn. Was worried it was going to start to get formulaic. Wrong. Really looking forward to the next audiobook!!!!!

Live the story, hate the narrator

Narrator makes most characters , especially the main character sound weak and insipid. Almost every sentence ends with an upward inflection as in a tentative question. Going back to reading.

The Author I check for New Books First

I listen to a lot of Audiobooks and a while back I happened upon The Country Club Murders. The first I read described macrame owls which took me back to the 70’s. I laughed out loud, I devoured the book. I have since read any book by Julie Mulhern. The Country Club Murders narrated by Callie Beaulieu are perfect and I enjoy the Field Guides as well. The book Fire and Rain was great because it explored changes in Ellison’s life and kept the story interesting and funny. If you are looking for an enjoyable read Julie Mulhern is a wonderful choice.

Once again, Julie nailed it

I love this time capsule, and it takes me back to classic KC! after listening to many of Julie‘s books, I love the characters so much, I hope we are not losing her awful neighbor who is an integral part of the story! If I were to have one complaint, it is only that they are too short, and I will be desperately seeking Julie’s next work! Ah, and the narrator! I wish you did all the books I listen too! There are so many I recognize and can not stand! Just awful! I’m going to search you because obviously you are a true talent! Thank you both! What to do for the next six months! Miss you already!❤️

One of my "must listen" series!

This is the series that you should be listening to as the audiobook intensifies the well written banter, emotion, love of coffee and so much more. This narrator and author duo are on my top "must listen" list. Don't get me wrong, the books are phenomenal. The plots are well written, the characters are so very relatable, the location is a particular interest to me as I grew up going to the places mentioned and the banter is top notch....but, the narrator brings it all to life in such a way that you feel like you are there with the characters living and breathing alongside of them. The series is a funny, 70's era cozy mystery set among the wealthy and their elitist beliefs that while you may not relate to the wealth, you certainly can find the humor that the author weaves for us absolutely hilarious. I absolutely can't wait for the next audiobook in the series to come out especially with the new addition to the family. Ooooh, got your attention now, don't I? You'll have to read to find out what or who has been added!

Back on track!

love this series! The last book I didn't care for the story, but this one is back to being the good ol stories that I love.

my one and only CON: the narrator could not keep a volume. I have to constantly turn it up because she whispers then the next sentence it's like she is yelling and I have to turn it back down. this is throughout the whole book. forget wearing earbuds you eardrums will be blown. I will say I normally really like this narrator.
