Replace the Fire 1 and 2 books with this book. Fantastic read. The special part of this book is hearing real life examples to learn from.

30 year veteran of a career department
Very good content, I preferred it coming from the author. I have a BC test coming up with this being part of the test. I'll definitely be referring to this material beyond the promotional test!

Really thorough
Man... he really does a comprehensive job of taking 45+ years of experience and compacting it into one source. If you're having to read this for a promotional exam, I highly recommend getting the audio book and using it to read along.

Contradictions
Assumptions, and stories should be half the time with facts and tactics… when you hear “push the fire with water… you know you have an old timer that just won’t except how it really works…. Over and over again…
