Publisher's Summary

The number-one New York Times best-selling author of the Sea Haven novels returns to the circle of the six sisters of the heart, bound by the elements - and to one who possesses the power to inflame the most dangerous passions of all.

Flame-haired Lissa Piner is a skilled glassblower whose delicate gift conceals a burning inner strength that can destroy as exquisitely as it can create. Commissioned to design chandeliers for a string of luxury hotels, her remarkable skills have taken her to Italy. But Lissa's real mission there is a secret. For her entire life has been a lie, leading to a chance to avenge a terrible wrong.

Enlisted as her bodyguard is Casmir Prakenskii, a trained assassin living off the grid. In Lissa he sees a kindred spirit - something unexpected and wicked, mysterious, and sensual. But more than desire is about to bring them together, because both of their pasts cry out for revenge. And with two people with this many secrets, this much passion, and this many enemies, someone is bound to get burned.

Narrator was wrong choice

Any additional comments?

I only just started listening but I am already having trouble with the narration. The narrator sounds way off for the book, making the girls sound like they are in their 40 or 50, and possibly hard smokers, rather than the 20-30's something that they are. I will update my review as I progress and hopefully it will get better but so far the voice is really detracting from the experience.

Lissa's Story

Lissa's Story: or how those Sisters of the Heart girls can't stay away from those Prakenskii boys. Didnt think I'd like this story based on how it started, but I'm glad I stuck with it. Good story line. Weakest part is Lissa rushing to leave on her trip saying she was staying away from Prakenskiis, then rushing into the arms of one. Monda wasn't terrible, but I REALLY miss not having Phil Gigante. Monda's voice is a little too mature middle class housewife-y for these characters.

Was this supposed to be in the Sea Haven series?

Didn't feel much like it, other than a few of the character names. Missing too many elements that I always liked about the earlier Sea Haven books. I found myself zoning out or skipping through most of the book because of so many sex scenes that went on too long, repeated the same phrases over and over, and made the heroine seem too submissive and the hero too controlling -- not interesting. Very little interaction with the sisters which I always look forward to. And where's the special bond between hero and heroine? (This seemed particularly inconsistent, I think some bond abilities were used once or twice, early on, but afterward I kept wondering why they didn't use it.) For that matter, where was the elemental abilities? OK, yeah, it was mentioned a few times and shown a bit (particularly by the hero, the heroine seemed very ineffective here and might as well have had no special abilities at all). I was disappointed with the previous book, too, but hate to stop a series when there's one more to go... and the preview of the hero to come in the next was one of the most interesting elements in this one. The narrator was ok -- nothing special, not one of the worst I've heard either.

Too much sex not enough story

Too much sex at the most ridiculous Times. I would not refer The book to anyone I know. I liked her other books but I did not like this one

good addition to series.

I like love scenes but it felt like some of these were overkill. Didn't love where it ended, wish they'd been back in Sea Haven.
The narrator was good but I could here a static around her at times. Felt a bit like a cassette.

I love this series and HATED this book.

Would you try another book from Christine Feehan and/or Carol Monda?

Yes

What was most disappointing about Christine Feehan’s story?

First, the opening is jerky. We go from her sisters seeing her off to her jumping in bed with a man she is SWORN to avoid in what seems like moments. Then Feehan does a Laurel Hamilton...Sex scene after explicit sex scene after explicit sex scene. Remember when Hamilton did that with Anita. This is worse. It goes way beyond BDSM with women being beaten, tortured and raped. All casually. I don't even know if I will try to listen to the last book. I like a little kinky sex, but on and on and on and on. Gak!

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Narration was fine.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger and disappointment.

Any additional comments?

This makes me really mad. A great series ruined by the 50 Shades vibe.

Disappointed

I was disappointed in this book. It seems that as time goes on Christine is putting more and sex scenes that go on for ever and are so explicit. Is many cases the male leads are too aggressive sexually. The ladies if not submissive give in when they are uncomfortable and I don't think that is a good message to be sending to impressionable readers. An example, is when the man tells his lady that they WILL be doing it this way and she WILL allow him to touch her whenever or whereever they are. This seems to be happening more and more.

Disappointing

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I haven't been able to passed chapter 4 which is a real pity, I was really looking forward to the continuing story in book 5 of Sisters of the hearts.

Would you ever listen to anything by Christine Feehan again?

I've listened or read all her books to date - so it is most likely that I will continue to do so.

Would you be willing to try another one of Carol Monda’s performances?

I would give her another chance

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fire Bound?

Not sure if the problem was with the story or the narrator - so I can't say

Too Many Sex Scenes

I hate to say, but I was a bit disappointed in this one. Too many sex scenes and repeating lines made this a frustrating listen for me. One sex scene went on for TWO CHAPTERS. There was just too much filler and not enough story. I did enjoy the story that was there. I just wished there had been more of it. Another issue was the narrator sounded way too old to be the main character. She did a good job, but you expect to hear a young woman's voice, and the narrator has a more mature woman's voice.

So disappointing

Loved the other books. This was s letdown. The strength of this series has always been the special connection of the couples. This story hardly even got off the ground before it lapsed into one long(and eventually incredibly boring) sex scene. After I started falling asleep, I gave up and began fast forwarding through the sex. Took literally hours off the playing time. Looking for Blythe and Victor to pull this out of the nosedive!
