Publisher's summary

Happily ever after is just what Felicity is searching for, but she never dreamed Officer Russo could fulfill that wish.

USA Today bestselling author Heather B. Moore welcomes you to Pine Valley!

Felicity Miner is not normally an anxious person, and she’s been on her own since high school. But after a shoplifter steals from her bookshop, she calls the cops. When Officer Leo Russo shows up, Felicity has to tell herself that just because the romance novel she’s been reading has a hero police officer doesn’t mean she needs to project her imagination onto the real man. Yes, Officer Russo is unexpectedly generous, and he helps make Felicity’s home more secure when her worries won’t settle down. But the more Felicity is around Officer Russo, the more she imagines a future between them. Is he merely doing his duty, protecting and serving the citizens of Pine Valley, or is there potential for something more?

A Sweet Small Town Romance

A book nerd / book store clerk named Felicity and a handsome cop named Leo . A fun audio book to listen to when a listener wants to escape through their earphones to a small town romance .
The narrator did a great job using her acting ability to act out the cast of characters in the book .
This is a stand alone novel but I recommend that you read or listen to the rest of the books in the Pine Valley Series .

Not my favorite, but I still couldn't put it down.

Great chemistry between the two main characters. Not a huge fan of the narration, but I still enjoyed the story.

A lovely relationship development romance

(Whispersynced between the audio & kindle versions)

A very sweet story. Felicity feels dysfunctional & in need of healing. Leo is a fixer. Thankfully there's more to their relationship than her neediness though.

In fact, her problem is really the opposite - she hasn't been able to depend on anyone to meet her emotional needs in her life so she isn't comfortable making herself vulnerable by needing someone.

Leo is used to women who use him & take rather than give. Felicity is giving, unassuming & undemanding. They are an excellent fit for each other. If Felicity can overcome her fear of emotional intimacy.

The "ooh he's hot" theme was a bit overdone, especially with the trampy women openly throwing themselves at him even while he was with Felicity. Normal women, even sleazy desperate ones, aren't quite that obvious as it's too likely to repel the guy. At least in my experience. The only time I've seen something so blatant as that was when alcohol was involved.

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses

***The narrator has a pleasant voice and ably created different voices to audibly distinguish between different characters dialogue***

Small town love!

Pine Valley is the small town I want to land in! The people there are just the kind you want to have around you. And Felicity is finding this out! When she sees a shoplifter in the playback of her security tape, she calls the police and Leo, the good looking, single policeman comes to her rescue. Leo is not looking to date, but there is something about Felicity that brings out his protective side immediately, and their connection just keeps growing. There is no real angst, but a slow burning relationship that keeps your heart growing. With fantastic secondary characters like Felicity's best friend and Leo's mom, the story gives a feeling of community. Plus, there are a few obstacles that just throw a bump in the road and make us wonder what is going to happen next. This is my kind of book, and I am going to look for others in this series(it's a stand alone though!)

Narrated by the incredible Xe Sands, I was immediately at home as soon as she started to narrate. There is a quality in her voice that just brings me that comfortable feel, and her choice of voices for each character resonate with each personality. I love her, and this book just reminds me of how much.

Book lover, hot chocolate and a handsome cop

Felicity works in a bookshop and loves hot chocolate so much that she drinks it everyday, even in the summer. She's been living in Pine Valley away from her family for the past year. She's content being by herself, which she attributes to being an only child and that her parents are older. When someone shoplifts a book she calls 911 and Officer Leo Russo shows up to handle the case. Leo is tall, dark, handsome, and Italian. (swoon) Leo's family is the opposite of Felicity's. He's from a big Italian family, and they live in Pine Valley. There were sparks right away between these two.

Felicity is a great character. She's been on her own for the past year, but doesn't really hesitate to call Leo when she hears weird noises in her backyard. She's also sweet and makes strawberry jam to thank Leo for coming over in the middle of the night.

Leo is so swoony. Dark hair, muscles, eyes the "color of hot chocolate with a sprinkle of cinnamon", plus he's super sweet and caring. He's got a lot going on in his life with work and his parents (his dad had a stroke), but he doesn't think twice about helping Felicity whether it's making her feel safer in her home, helping her pick out a dog, working on her car, or listening to her troubles. Who wouldn't fall in love with him?

Everything isn't all peaches and cream for these two, but they're there for each other. Leo helps Felicity see it's okay that their families are different. "I want to find us."

I loved the mug of hot chocolate on the cover, and the book made me want some so badly, but that's not happening in the summer in New Orleans. ☕ Although this is part of series each book can be read as a standalone. This is a clean romance with just kisses.

I enjoy the narrator's voice. She's very talented and is the narrator for the other books in this series.

Overcoming childhood baggage to find love

The author presented a well-crafted enjoyable story. It kept my interest from the beginning until the end. The romance between Leo and Felicity developed as Felicity worked through her emotional baggage of her childhood.

What I especially liked:
*Leo was a man any woman would like to claim.
*Felicity was a woman trying to get beyond her past and loneliness. She was very likeable.
*The banter between Leo and Felicity was funny.
*The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done and easy to visualize and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.
*The pacing of the story was neither too slow nor too fast.
*There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book.
*This story had a satisfying ending.
*This novel was a clean read.

The narrator did a very good job of differentiating the many character voices. I was given a free copy of the audiobook by the author. I also own the ebook version of this story. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I will be listening or reading more by this author.

Great story and narrator!

I had read this book before and really enjoyed it. The narrator took it to the next level. The emotions portrayed with the narration helped me visualize the story even more.

Good story with a slow start

it took me wit awhile to get invested in the story, but then I really enjoyed it. I had a hard time with the narrator, too. She didn't do anything wrong, it's just personal preference. By the end, I don'ot mind that either. So, I'd still recommend this sweet story.
