About this listen
Twenty-four-year-old Phoebe Hawley is on a quest to find her family a home. On the road with two siblings, 12-year-old Maydean and five-year-old Willie-Boy, Phoebe is out of money, out of gas and out of patience. Now the only things she owns in abundance are Hawley backbone and Hawley pride - neither of which she can trade for food or gas.
A collision with Gage Morgan puts Phoebe's mission in even worse jeopardy - until Phoebe discovers Gage Morgan owns the perfect place for the Hawley clan. But! Gage Morgan has a bruised ego, a tight fist on his land and an iron fist on his heart, and is the unlikeliest man in the universe to succumb to her schemes. Phoebe wields all of the pride, backbone, and country smarts she owns to claim his home, plow his land, and pilfer his heart. Nothing works. With time running against her family, she plies one last inducement - her scarce feminine wiles. Will it be enough?

Nothing short of a miracle can restore Eliza Hayward’s Christmas cheer. The job she pinned her dreams on has gone up in smoke—literally—and now she’s stuck in an unfamiliar, if breathtaking, small town. Precariously close to being destitute, Eliza needs a hero, but she’s not expecting one who almost runs her down with his car! Rescuing Eliza is pure instinct for tech genius Aidan Caine. At first, putting the renovation of his lakeside guest lodge in Eliza’s hands assuages his guilt—until he sees how quickly he could fall for her.

Very good contemporary romance
What did you love best about Finding Home?
The way Phoebe protected her family no matter what. She loved them and was annoyed by them but she still worked towards trying to find employment, housing and food for them.
What did you like best about this story?
The dynamics between Gage and his daughter as well as Pheobe and her family. The author focused on both the families immediate and long term issues including the budding romance.
What does Mark Hall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His voice is smooth and easily understood. Mark was able to vary his voice so we knew which character was talking and he was able to bring emotions forward which is important in every story. He did a good job and I enjoyed listening to him.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The moment that moved me most was when Gage decided to let Phoebe and the kids stay despite his reservations. He knows he needs help with his daughter and home even though he wasn't comfortable with Phoebe and the kids.
Any additional comments?
This was a very good contemporary romance that occurs between a woman from the hills and a hard working man. Phoebe helped to show both Gage and Dory how to work together and get to know one another so that they could all be a family. At age 24 Phoebe has taken on the role as the one responsible for the health, lodging and well being of her entire family. Gage has suffered disillusionment and doesn't even know his daughter until Phoebe and gang arrives. The author showed strong family ties and the strength of spirit and conviction of one small woman. We see how life interferes between a father and child. I look forward to reading more of this author's books in the future.

Needed more
The story line was frustrating to hear. To have Phoebe continually state she is a good Christian but she sets out to manipulate and use Gage is disheartening. The example she is is setting for a 12 yr old that seems to act more like a 15/16 yr old is not proper.
I never really understood the story line of Gage and Velma. I just did not feel the story to flow well.
I was given an audible copy for an honest review.

The lively world of Phoebe Hawley
Would you listen to Finding Home again? Why?
I certainly would. I was unsure at first about whether I would understand the strong southern American accent, but it took no more than minutes to get into it and the narrator does an excellent job. But then, he had great material to work with – Phoebe Hawley is a spitfire with a mission. She is determined to find a home for herself and her siblings. When she does, she'll get her parents and mentally impaired sister to join them. The plot line is simple, but we certainly know what Phoebe wants, and we're with her on every step of her mission to get it. So we suffer every setback along with her, and we will her on to success.
Finding Home is ideally suited as an audiobook, because the dialogue is astonishingly vivid. I laughed out loud at some of the things Phoebe said! And the descriptions of Gage Morgan's scrap yard, house and land had me right there.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Finding Home?
There wasn't one standout moment for me. What I liked most of all was the well-rounded characters, from little Willie-boy, the asthmatic child who only wanted to play with the others and who found a true father figure in the wary Gage Morgan, to the precocious Maydean and damaged Dorie, to the hero and heroine themselves.
Which character – as performed by Mark Hall – was your favorite?
Has to be Phoebe. She's cunning and clever, funny and overbearing, but above all she's determined and passionate and proud. She's skinny and inexperienced, but she'll use everything she's got to get what she needs for her family. In other words, she's small in build but larger than life, and you can't help but love her.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A heartwarming story of determination and passion.
Any additional comments?
I don't normally read straight romance, but I didn't regret reading this one. Jackie Weger's prose carries you along with delight. A quick, easy read – I'll be back for more!

Awesome! Funny! Hot! Beautiful! Touching!
If you could sum up Finding Home in three words, what would they be?
Heartwarming, Steamy, Hilarious
What did you like best about this story?
I haven't heard such a well rounded story in a long time! This book has it all! every aspect, every emotion! I could see everything like I was watching it on a movie screen! I would love to see this as a movie! I haven't heard such a wonderful story since the last Nicholas Sparks book! And he's my favorite Author! Jackie Weger You are a great writer! I can't wait to see more of your work! I'm serious about wanting to see this as a movie, I think it would be a real hit!
What about Mark Hall’s performance did you like?
I really didn't think I would like it as much as I did...having a man read all the parts (women and men, but Mark Hall did a spectacular job! It was engaging and funny! I loved it!
If you could take any character from Finding Home out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Phoebe! She's wonderful! She's so fresh and naive, yet strong and smart! I love her heart and her spirit!
Any additional comments?
I just really think this would make a wonderful movie!

Good story
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I liked the story and the characters. The voice made the women sounds like old ladies though, making it a little difficult to picture what they were actually like.

Interesting change of pace
I haven't "read" audible books in a while, so it was good to get back to it. The combination of words used and intonation of the narrator made me laugh at times and also made it more real than if I was reading the book. Overall, I think the book was pretty well written and well narrated.

Great story and narrator!
I really got involved with the characters in this story, and was anxious to get back to it when I had to stop and take care of other things. The narrator was just right. I agree with another reviewer who said this should be a movie...I could picture it as I listened!

Not a clean book
I was really getting into the story when suddenly a bedroom sex scene appears between 2 unmarried people. i can't listen to these types of books with my grandchildren and we love to listen as we are driving/riding along. Up to Chapter 6 its a great book yeah some bad worse but otherwise good book.
