It's a Tie for best of the series...

I just don't know how I could have missed this book! John Gilstrap is one of those authors I watch for. I've enjoyed the Jonathan Graves series as well as his stand alone Nathan's Run narrated by George Guidall.
This is a very good series and this book may well be the best or at least equal to End Game which I had said was the best in the series about 3 1/2 years ago.
In this book Graves and Boxers are sent to Mexico rescue a DEA agent kidnapped by a drug cartel. After retrieving the man the man the they find themselves abandoned with the cartel head hunting them down. They take refuge in an orphanage run by same man and escape into the jungle with the orphanage residents and black market weapons in tow. Graves knows the children will be killed if left behind.
This book is so fast paced and the story is exciting. There is quite a bit of conflict between Graves and Boxers because Boxers priority is to save the agent and Graves can't leave children behind to die. It certainly has a Bang Up ending.
Basil Sands does an excellent job narrating. I've seen a few people complain about him and I understand, he does mispronounce some of the simpler words but he's been doing this series so long I've come to expect him to continue.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and series. If you found this review helpful please indicate so.
Thank You.

Best novel by far in the Jonathan Grave series!

As an author of suspense thrillers John Gilstrap is consistently inconsistent; he writes novels that are in the 3 to 5 star range with none being bad, FINAL TARGET, Book 9 in the Grave series, is outstanding. It is set mostly in Mexico where it deals with a drug kingpin murders people for his own entertainment. Suspense is intense and constant. Narrator Basil Sands does a great job.

a solid entry

This book isn't going to redeem the western world or improve life for anyone, but it was a solid 13 hours of narrative entertainment, with a plot straightforward enough to follow yet convoluted enough to be interesting, with apparent hopeless hurdles overcome with the right amount of derring-do by a cast large enough to engage the senses.

Fantastic! My first Gilstrap listen.

Wasn't expecting such a great book. Great plot, character development and narration. If you like Mitch Rapp, Dewey Andreas, and the like, you will definitely like this book.

Now excuse me while I click to the next screen and order another book in this series.

good but ...

I've been listening to these books one after another after finding them. I even took a break before this one's listening to baldacci's newest book. as this one started I thought. Oh here we go again very similar theme as other ones but it held me through the whole thing so I guess not so bad.

I could barely finish listening

The dialogue was so contrived and unrealistic and annoying - I don't think George Guidell could have save this one, but the narrator did not help this situation at all. I have listened to several Gilstrap books and this was least enjoyable. Probably going to skip the next Big Guy and Johnathon novel.

Horrible narrative

I have listed this narrator as one to STAY CLEAR OF. I will never buy another book with Basil Sands as narrator!!!!
