Wish I read reviews of narrator first

I remember reading this book and loving the story. Yesterday I saw if had an audiobook upgrade so I bought it with out reading reviews. Big mistake. I honestly stopped listening before the first chapter. The narrator is horrible and I've heard some other bad ones. I wish they would re record this and get a much better recording because it ruins the story. Read the book don't bother with the audio it is worth paying the e book version. It's 2 bucks wasted. Nice story Horrible Narration too bad :-(

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No, it would have been better if I would have read it instead.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Amanda Goodyear?

Almost anyone else. I personally like Felicity Munroe, Lisa Cordileone or Alexandria Wilde.

Any additional comments?

It is a shame that this book wasn't narrated better. The story is really good, I usually love Meghan O'Brien books this one left me upset with the bad narration. I should have stopped listening and bought the book instead, the narrator spoiled the it for me. I really hope they get a different narrator for her next book.

Story, AMAZING! Narrator,...not so much...

Story, AMAZING! Narrator,...not so much...

The narrator is SERIOUSLY lacking with this one. the story is FANTASTIC (as usual, Ms. O'Brien! Haven't been disappointed yet!) but the narrator, while able to distinguish the voices of the characters easily enough, definetly lacks the correct emotions of what shes reading. Add that to the poor recording (especially in the beginning of novel) detracts from the story even more. Overall, I gave this one 4 outta 5 stars due to the story being the most deserving of this rating & narrator 1 star only because 0 wasn't an option.

Great story, awful narrator

It's a shame that this book wasn't narrated better. The story is really great. There aren't many books that deal with PTSD, and even fewer that are love stories. Meghan O'Brien is by far one of my favorite authors in this category, I will buy every book she writes, I just hope she gets a different narrator for her next book.

Horrible Recording!!

This was a good story, but the recording is absolutely horrid! You can hear every splice, volume was up and down the whole way through, and there's a slight hollow sound behind the narrator. Seriously disappointing I actually paid for the audible version. Ugh!

Great Book .... Awful Narrator

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend the book in e-book format. Ms. Goodyear did not do the book justice. She read it as if the characters were teenagers. She read the book as if she was in a race. There was no passion read into the love scenes. If I had not read the e-book before I purchased the audible book, I would have hated it.

What did you like best about this story?

Ms. O'Brien made you feel for both women in the story. I like the true conflict. It made since.

Would you be willing to try another one of Amanda Goodyear’s performances?

No ... never.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The very end .... to say more would be a spoiler

Not narrated well at all!

Struggled through the storey telling. Loved the book but man I have no clue how they could sell this audiobook with how it was narrated. Totally ruined a good book.

WORSE NARRATOR ON THE PLANET EVER

Buy the book. The narration wrecks it and it's a shame because it's a really good story. Putting aside awful audio that kept going up and down and stopping in weird places, the narrator was completely inappropriate for this material. Terrible acting, no ability to interpret written to spoken word. I mean she would read the sentence at the top of her lungs when the author clearly states that the character whispered it or murmured it.
The sex scenes which are actually written really well is just embarrassing in the hands of this narrator. Please do not allow this narrator to botch anymore romances. PLEASE!! And please re-record this book with someone else.

This is a great book

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The plot was a good strong story and fairly accurate portrayal of someone with PTSD and agoraphobia and the struggles they go through. I highly recommend reading this book.

Absolutely awful recording quality.

What would have made Battle Scars better?

I've read this book before and enjoyed it so I was pleased when the audiobook came out. But the quality of the recording is absolutely awful. Easily the worst recording I've listened to on audible. Surely there is some kind of quality control? It sounds like it's been recorded on a mobile phone that's got a bad signal. The volume is up and down throughout every sentence and it's painful to listen to. I couldn't listen to it for more than 10 minutes before I gave up. I'm returning the audio book which is very rare for me.

Great story, terrible narration

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes and No.

This story is one of my favourites, I've read the book several times. So when it became available on audible, I happily bought it to listen to as I walk.

It is seriously the worst narration I have ever listened to - and I got my kids to record their picture books when they were 6! It's not just the narrator's voice that was bad, the audio editing is terrible too.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the in depth characters. The reality of PTSD and anxiety is shown beautifully.

How could the performance have been better?

It would have been better with a decent narrator and good sound engineering.
