Publisher's Summary

"James Victore is a dangerous man. His ideas on optimizing your creativity, doing wow work, and building a life that inspires will devastate your limits. And show you how to win. Read this book fast." (Robin Sharma, number one best-selling author of The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari)

Begin before you're ready.

Renowned designer and professional hell-raiser James Victore wants to drag you off your couch and throw you headfirst into a life of bold creativity. He'll guide you through all the twists, trials, and triumphs of starting your creative career, from finding your voice to picking the right moment to start a project (hint: It's now).

Bring your biggest, craziest, most revolutionary ideas, and he will give you the kick in the pants you need to make them real. No matter what industry or medium you work in, this book will help you live, work, and create freely and fearlessly.

Here are some dangerous ideas:

The things that made you weird as a kid make you great today.

  • Work is serious play.
  • Your ego can't dance.
  • The struggle is everything.
  • Freedom is something you take.
  • There ain't no rules.

Take a risk. Try them out. Live dangerously.

Critic Reviews

“There are five books that are so important in what they have to say that I gift them to others. Now, there are six.” (David Hieatt, cofounder of The Do Lectures and Hiut Denim Co.)

“In James Victore’s new book, he unequivocally proves why he is the master he is. In every chapter, he challenges and inspires the reader to reach for more, to try harder, and to create our best selves. It is a magnificent and momentous experience. (All true.)” (Debbie Millman, host of Design Matters)

“Over the past decade, James has served as a constant reminder for me to have the courage and the audacity to be my weird self. Feck Perfuction is a beautiful case study into why so many of us have found our life’s work when we are our most authentic and when we get comfortable with being our most uncomfortable. Ignore this book at your peril.” (Harley Finkelstein, COO of Shopify)

Egh

When I read the description for this book I was excited to get into a work that would flip convention on its head and inspire me to take action in a new direction, now after listening to it, I feel stressed out that I didn’t get many actionable items or next steps and I don’t feel any more inspired. This book was a long list of one liner thoughts that were accompanied with minimal explanation or actionable advice. I have listen to a couple books recently, each by different authors, that had much fewer chapters, sub-chapters, or listed main ideas, but walked the reader/listener through questions to ask themselves and items to pay attention to, that resulted in tangible new strategies, progress tracking, and change. This book was disappointing.

Trite and unoriginal made worse by awful reading.

Everything about this unoriginal uninteresting book is made worse by a terrible reader. Waste of time.

Amazing

This book could not have come at a better time of my life. I wish I I had found it 5 or 10 years earlier. I found it so relevant I am going to listen to it again. I am in the process of trying to rekindle my wasted and desperate to be used artistic skills and change my career direction in that path. Amazing!

Great advice

Great advice and philosophies for Artists and for anyone who refuses to settle for anything less than a truly creative and fulfilling life experience. It reminded me of what I already know, prompted me to keep reaching for more and inspired me with new perspectives. I know I will be reaching for this book every time I hit doubt and need a good boot up the behind to keep moving forward with my wild and juicy life.

Short, sweet and words to remember

This is a quick listen that will help you move your tail into the future you have always dreamed of having. so grab your headphones and take a few long walks while you listen in on words of wisdom that might be a bit uncomfortable to some, but will help you make a world of change of you let it. Sometimes writers make great narrators... this is one of those cases.

Best book I’ve read of it’s kind!

Easy listening, bite size chapters full of great content. Definitely one to keep and listen to again and again.

Couldn't take anything from this

I really wanted to like this but couldn't, the narration of the audio book is so over the top that I found it difficult to listen to. It may work better as a hard copy it or may not as it is quite superficial. Possibly good for a young teenager audience?
