Life changing

I have PTSD from childhood abuse. I had dealt with a big chunk of it through spiritually and counseling but there were a few areas that I had accepted that I could never overcome but through this book I did.

A MUST READ/LISTEN!

The author created an indelible mark on my heart and soul. An absolute must read for anyone over the age of 16. FULL DISCLOSURE: I listened to this book from audible.com, and I highly recommend you do the same. I read nonstop, however, this book was recommended I listen... and I know why. Absolutely takes the # 1 slot for books involving neuroscience and/or self-help I did have to pause the book quite a few times because of the emotional and physical reaction I had to many of Mr. Nanavati‘s explanations. In addition to many layman’s explanations, the author notes MANY highly respected scientists in a way that scholars would enjoy and understand. This isn’t my best writing or review but I am so emotionally drained and revived at the same time that I do not desire to edit this review and or proofread it. My apologies... Be well and PLEASE listen to this book!

Worth reading, interesting ideas and well researched

That’s definitely a good book, it’s fairly dense too. Expect to have a lot of homework from the book. It gives both a lot of ideas of further reading and fair bit of exercices (especially at the end of chapters). Sometimes the language is definitely a little too « self help bullshit style » and I believe it would be worth to specify a few things with simple practical words instead of grand expressions in a second version. The scientific aspect of the book is a little bit overdone but it’s true many interesting studies are cited and the book is generally well researched.

Life changed forever

It's been a while since I finished reading and taking notes on Fearvana. I have already recommended this book to many friends, because it changed my perspective on life's stressors and challenges, and changed my whole perspective on life. Fearvana helped me realize that I have a lot of negative thoughts about myself that I was completely blind to. This book is the tool to recognize fears and realize how sometimes the things we fear are the exact things that will be the most rewarding, making us the happiest most fulfilled versions of ourselves. I have changed my attitude dramatically towards "boring" tasks such as studying, training, and job applications, because Akshay’s book taught me to fall in love with the struggle and to love the process, because it gives us strength and makes us better. Fearvana taught me that everything that I want and everything in my life that is important requires hard work and struggle, and requires facing fears and being uncomfortable. Fearvana taught me that a lot of my emotional responses were the “second dart syndrome” of judging myself. Learning Akshay’s "second-dart" definition has given me more control and made me a lot more confident. I can now view my stress and anxiety from a new perspective because of this book! I view my stress response as a sign that I'm passionate about changing and accepting myself, and I’m improving my self-talk and mental strength every day. Fearvana inspired me to go out of my comfort zone and seek out those fearful experiences that strengthen us. I’m more comfortable with them and I know I can use this new strength to my advantage in all areas of life. This book will no doubt inspire you to realize how much of your life is controlled by fear and hopefully, like me, inspire you to start living the life you want! Thanks Akshay!

A master's piece on this topic

I've read many books and researched a lot about the topic of overcoming fears, but never I found the ideas shown here. The book is not only original, but totally oriented to action, with an exercise to practice on each chapter that ensures the information is not only acquired, but applied as well. It also offers all the theoretical and scientifically proven data in detail behind everything explained here - no pseudocientific or new age claims. And this is completemented with the wisdom acquired by multiple real-life experiences regarding each topic. If you are interested into overcoming fears, this book will help with that, and more. It will change the conventional perspective of fear, so that it not only stops working against you - but will be used as fuel to move towards your goals.
