for those looking for a black company book, it's a section style book, starting at chapter 14

ch 14 for black company story

Only the red hats story was good, there were several that were okay but either dragged or had a terrible voice narrator (for the story).

Several stories were just ramblings of words

An attempt, 1 was good out of a dozen

I bought this anthology specifically for the Black Company short story. The tone and language of this particular story was in contrast to the two previous books. Modern terminology, contrasting character traits and established relationships made it seem out of place in the storyline. Croaker goes from a time and battle hardened, introspective, objective storyteller to equipy, foul mouthed, imupulsive young soldier. There are even logical inconsistencies within the short story, and even more within the existing world previously built. There are too many references to modern concepts like a wrist watch or democracy. This seems like a mediocre to bad short story with a Black Company veneer poorly splashed over it. It is so bad, it is turning me off from continuing to the 3rd official book of the series.

Overall, the anthology was lackluster. There were some very good stories, and some so dull or straight up bad I felt my time wasted for having listened to them. Save your money or credits for another book

it's wrongly marked, probably a good book, but not what I was looking for when purchasing it

not a black company book

Although billed as a Black Company book by Audible, it is not. Just a compilation of short stories by various authors.
