Publisher's Summary
In New York Times best-selling author Victoria Laurie’s newest Psychic Eye Mystery, Abby is after a serial killer who’s simply fated for felonies.
When three newbie agents at the Austin’s FBI cold-case bureau resent having to work alongside a psychic consultant, Abby Cooper finds herself in hot water after they contact super-popular podcaster Mike Toscano - a former agent and huge skeptic of Abby’s abilities.
To prove that she’s the real deal, Abby will have to solve Toscano’s oldest - and coldest - case, and she’ll have to do it on air with millions of Toscano’s fans critiquing her every move. To make matters worse, the DC brass is threatening to shut down the Austin offices if Abby doesn’t bring home a win.
But helping to solve the unsolvable is what Abby does best, and she’ll be bringing her A-game to Toscano’s podcast. The only trouble is the killer could be listening....

Glad she’s back
It’s been over 2 years since the last Abby Cooper mystery, so I was thrilled when I saw this book. It’s one of the best of the series. The mystery and the Abby’s psychic abilities really stand out in this one. It also seemed to be more action packed and suspenseful. I really hope we don’t have to wait as long for the next book.

ok....
Abigail needs to have her mouth washed out with soap. Why does this author think it adds to the story to give Abigail potty mouth, including dropping the F-bomb about 30 times in the first chapter, and once it was about 15 times in a minute, while she supposedly was making a point. I can cuss as well as the best of them, but really? I do try to minimize it and certainly in public. This is a book, and, in my case, an audiobook. Even I'm offended and disgusted. Run out of vocabulary, Ms Laurie? There was so much eye-rolling in the text, I'm thinking somebody is going to go blind. The author needs a new editor. And should do a word search on her finished book. Use it once, then learn another word or phrase. Abigail has become very annoying. She has gotten more pushy for the FBI with each book, a loose cannon. She leaps into action with no authority, curses, rolls her eyes, demands food and desert coffee, taunts people. Just generally annoying. I used to like these books, but I don't remember them being like this but this one turned me totally off. Abigail and her overbearing, annoying talking and taunting finally wore me out. This may be my last Abigail book. I really have enjoyed her books in the past. I just have to "roll my eyes" at some of the editorial nonsense. Maybe she changed editors? She's lost me as a listener.

Not bad
I was excited reading the reviews; however, the narrator ruined the story for me. She used the same voice for all the characters. It was a good plot that kept me interested enough to finish but I struggled and was easily distracted. I would try another in this series only if there is another narrator.

Almost great
Love Victoria Laurie and had read all her books but the last couple I listened to. This is one of her best in the series but the narrator? I can’t get past how old she sounds. Like a lady in her 60s. Reads ever character the same, men and women. Old fashioned references aren’t too cool either but Ms Laurie did add courtesy cursing and (sadly) made it more current. Loved the book not Elizabeth Michaels. I’d say the problem may be because I started the series reading not listening so I had a preconceived notion how Abby would sound. Could be, but I listen to 8-10 books a week, I think Michaels is so wrong for this series. But I’ll still listen ;)

Absorbing paranormal police procedural
Abby Cooper has worked alongside her husband Dutch and his boss who happens to be her best friend’s husband at the FBI for years. They were skeptical when she joined the team, but their record since she did has been stupendous. The Austin unit is especially good at solving cold cases, thanks to Abby’s intuitive abilities. Three new career men join the unit and resent that the government is paying a “psychic” consultant. The three stooges contact popular podcaster and retired agent Mike Toscano to debunk her abilities. The challenge is that Abby will need to solve his oldest and coldest case file going back 15 years on the air, live, in an hour! To add even more pressure, the fate of the Austin office is on the line along with the careers of the men and women working there. Thankfully Abby gets the familiar tingle as she reads a summary of the file and an odd vision comes to her. She writes down her impressions which sound ludicrous to Toscano who accuses them of utter failure. The agents who work with Abby regularly trust her so much that they all agree to take vacation time to check out her vision. Toscano is too curious to turn down the offer to accompany them and follows them all to Texarkana and the lake where four women are supposedly located. There are four victims in Toscano’s file, so he is surprised when Abby tells him there is a fifth victim. I was delighted to again be drawn into Abby’s world with her friends and co-workers. Her abilities held up to scrutiny, and I was glad the case wasn’t so cold as to offer no clues to solving it. Along the way Abby speaks to her sister Cat who discovers her husband is having an affair, which sets up a spinoff series featuring Cat in the life coach mysteries also written by Laurie. Elizabeth Michaels returns as narrator. Somehow she just “gets” Abby and portrays her so vividly. Conversations sounds realistic, including the swearing. Her pace ebbs and flows with the action, catching the listener up in the plot. This was very much a police procedural yet it was also very much a paranormal story. There was no way the mystery could be solved without Abby’s involvement, as proven by the agent’s thick cold case file. Abby’s intuition also provided the final clues needed to catch a killer. The fate of the Austin bureau and the men working there was again caught up in Mike Toscano’s podcast, but this time Abby was eager to share hosting duties as they explain how the case was solved. Yet there is quite a twist at the end when a listener calls in with a unique question. Definitely enjoyable.
