SA-WOOON!
I just started listening to audiobooks this year (yes - I know, I know) and have been going through them like mad since discovering the error of my ways. So now not only am I listening to new releases, but going back a ways to older favorite books on audio. Such was the case here with Fated Love, narrated by the delicious-voiced Abby Craden. I loved this book in the early 2000s and ate it up here again. We are so fortunate to have Abby narrate a good number of lesfic audiobooks. I'm getting to the point where I think I may have developed an addiction to her tones. Like - I want her voice to have my children. :-D Okay - not REALLY... but, well....really. lol In this book, ER Chief Dr. Honor Blake is still devastated after losing the love of her life in a freak accident when she was only in her 20s. Years later, she never even considered moving on and still wears her wedding ring. Then she meets Quinn Maguire, the gorgeous new trauma surgeon she got strapped with (and isn't too happy about it either.) Dr. Maguire is not only an extremely talented physician, she is also helpful, kind and loving and falls for Honor in a big way. Honor is terrified to feel again and tries to resist, but can't seem to keep her feelings for Quinn at bay. Abby does vulnerable like no one else and she also excels at love scenes. Good lord - I could listen to the woman all day long. This was a great listen - a wonderfully romantic story and perfect narration for it. Loved it and will listen again.

A book about real lesnians, finally!
This book often reminded me of great days I've been lucky enough to spend with warm loving lesbian women friends.
The love scenes between the women were very good and much more accurate than most. But it was the way it depicted the friendships of these women. It was so warm and loving it made me laugh, cry and smile often.
I highly recommend it!
I'd let Abby Craden read anything to me, anytime.

Not Her Best
This one isn't a big personal favorite of mine, the characters are too iconic, a little too good to be true. Still in those times when you're between relationships or recovering from the loss of a love, reading, hearing or watching about a love this deep is therapuetic to the heart. Honor and Quinn are the type of women that everyone would like to be loved by; especially Quinn. Arlie (I'm guessing at the spelling) is a sweet irresistible little girl who will steal your heart and Linda is the friend that all of us would like to have. This book isn't filled with the most realistic women in the world, but they're both likeable, and lovable (not always the same thing) and it's a nice way to pass a few hours.

Monotonous!
After listening to more than half of the story with practically nothing else than how the charachters are trembling in each others presence, blushing, how aroused they are and pulled to each other, plus plus plus, I could'nt take it anymore! So far the story has no depht. And then it is the narrator with her whimpering way of story telling. I've heard a lot of stories told by Craden, and in some of them she is really great! Not in this one.

Disappointing- jumps around too much!
I was expecting more from a Radclyffe book. It jumps around a lot and it has long bouts of going between the actual story and mini-stories within the book. I thought the characters were not super relatable and some of the cliched lines made me groan in disappointment. I was not impressed. AUDIBLE 20 REVIEW SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY

A beautiful love story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I recommend that they listen to the preview to find if they can "get along" with the narriator for sure. The story is wonderful though, I would definately recommend to read it in some form, whether audio, print or e-reader. If you like lesbian fiction, this is a must read.
What other book might you compare Fated Love to, and why?
Many of Radclyffe's other titles. This is a romance with a medical setting.... of the ones I've read I'd say most like Crossroads. I have read most of Radclyffes work, and I think this is one of her best. I really enjoyed it.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Abby Craden?
I found Abby Craden to be an irritating narrator, she has this habbit of leaning on the last syllable in every sentance. She also reads the entire book in this suductive voice which kind of cheapens it.
I haven't listened to many audiobooks with narrators that might be suitible for this kind of book. I listened to Oath of Honor though, and I thought Betsy Zajko did a good job with that, so I'll have to go with Betsy Zajko.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Errrrm. I have no idea. Advertising is really not my bag.
Any additional comments?
I don't usually leave written reviews, I know that I am no good at it. I usually just leave a star rating but I felt the need to in this case as I thought the only other review that has been left was completely unfair (not to mention insulting to both the author and the readers!). While it is true that there are several erotic scenes, this is far more than a simple girl meets girl & falls into bed kind of a book.
Honor and Quinn are well developed and multifacated, realistic, and extremely likeable characters. Honor's wife Terry was tragicly killed in an accident several years before leaving her to bring up their child with the support of her mother-in-law. I thought the issue of Terry's death was handled with sensitivity and compassion from all perspectives. Quinn has troubles of her own which has led her away from the career she trained for and causes some problems both professionally and personally for the both of them. Without wanting to give too much away Honor finds the strength to allow herself to love again and Quinn not only falls in love with Honor, but also grows to love Honor's daughter & finds a place for herself in their family.

Dire lesbian soft porn
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
Mills & Boon readers with sapphic curiosity
What was most disappointing about Radclyffe’s story?
Insipid characters, weak plot, shameless overuse of the word 'throat' and derivatives thereof.
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Abby Craden?
A story about strong, independent, professional gay women deserves a stronger, commanding voice, not soft porn husky and voyeuristic
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fated Love?
All of it

Heart of the ER
I loved this book, this book is about Honor who is chief of the ER and Quinn who is a trauma surgeon who has just transferred from another hospital and joined Honor’s team in the ER department, her reason for transferring is all very suspicious.
I don’t want to say to much as it will give the story away.
They have great chemistry from the start and I was rooting for them. The side characters are great too and definitely add to the story.
I will say Radclyffe is an excellent author and puts a lot of drama and information into her books, I love the medical information. It has fantastic narration from Abby Craden. I will say I was like omg at the end and I cried. I can’t wait to see what book 2 (Night Call) in the series holds and hope to see Honor and Quinn in it.
Also Saxon Sinclair and Jude Castle make an appearance from Radcliffe's other book (Passion’s Bright Fury) which was another fantastic book, so maybe listen to Passion’s Bright Fury first so you know their story.

Good story, irritating narrator
I enjoyed the story. if it wasn't for the narrators voice, which I found annoying, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Loved it!
I really loved this book!
The character development was superb and the storyline kept me engaged the whole way through. Once again, Abby Craden's narration really made the story come alive.

Abby Craden strikes again
Great story! I really enjoyed it. A beautiful mix of lust, longing, sex, slow burn, connection, grief, growth and love. Has a nice balance of medical issues, side characters & relationship development. A must read. One of my favorites.

Entertaining, but nothing special
Abby Craden is wonderful as always but this story really lacked depth for me. It seemed like an afterthought, there was no real character progression or depth to the story line. it all seemed way to easy.

Story
Ren Dunbar is used to never fitting in—anywhere. Graduating high school at 13 and med school at 19 pretty much guaranteed she’d always have trouble proving she belonged, but she’s okay with that. She prefers the solitude of the lab over the raucous atmosphere in the OR, which would be fine except she’s a surgery resident. Winning the Benjamin Franklin Prize in surgery is just the proof she needs to show everyone she deserves to be part of their world.
