Publisher's Summary

I thought I was fighting to prove myself, but it turns out I’ve been duped. The traitor betrayed...I guess there’s a certain poetic irony to that.

Unfortunately, neither poetry nor irony is going to get me or the guy I inadvertently dragged into this mess to safety. I’ve got nothing left to bargain with. So when the worst of our betrayers offers us a way out, what choice do I have but to take it?

There’s a long journey ahead of us, one I couldn’t have been prepared for. One that’ll require I somehow trust the last person I want to. One that’ll push all three of us to our limits - with no guarantee that we’ll make it to the end alive.

False Augury is the second book in a new urban-fantasy trilogy set in the Villain Academy world. Enter here for magical conspiracies, an outcast heroine, and a fraught romance where she'll get to keep both her suitors.

Suspenseful and engaging sequel!

I'm really enjoying this story so far. There were certainly some unexpected plot twists that made this read not only suspenseful and engaging, but emotional. This book does end in a cliffhanger, but the very best kind. We get the main threads from this book tied up, while still leaving us with something to look forward to in the next book! I'm excited to see what happens next in this world with this great group of characters!

As for the narration, I'll give it 4/5. It was a pleasant listen and I enjoyed the addition of not one, but two male narrators to give voice to both of the male POVs!

False Augury

The cliffhanger at the end of book one left me needing more! This book picks up where Noah and Cressida have been found out and taken captive. I am very interested to see where Noah, Cressida, and Emrick's relationship leads. I need to know what happens next right now! Jamie Lamchick, Jonathan Ash, and Curry Whitmire did a fantastic job narrating.

An exciting adventure in the wilds of Maine

We finally get to find out what happened to Cressida and Noah. Last we knew they were both snatched and thrown unconscious into a vehicle with two of the Portland reapers. They awaken chained to a wall in a room with cuffs that block the use of their magic. Cressida soon discovers that their supposed ally Emeric is really not an ally at all but a true member of the reaper group she was trying to gather intel on. While Noah has value as the brother of a Baron, Cressida is only a traitor and a spy. When Emeric changes allegiances and breaks them out, that's when their troubles really begin. Now they are on foot and on the run through unknown territory, miles from the nearest town and hunted by their former captors. They have no supplies and no cell signal. Cressida and Noah are not inclined to trust that Emeric won't either desert them or lead them into another trap. With few ways to generate the fear that fuels their magic, they are the proverbial sitting ducks. This isn't going to be pretty.

The book will end on a cliffhanger that you should have seen coming. I was given a copy of this audio book by the author. My review is voluntary.

love this

Book 2 picks up without missing a beat. And somehow someway Eva Chase has made it so I actually care about what happens to Cressida. This story follows her and the guys as they are trying to get back to the school and safety. It was intense and kept me on my toes.
The narrators do an amazing job as always, and I can't wait for the next one

Excellent Addition to the Series!

The story grabbed my attention and kept me entertained from beginning to conclusion. The first book was in Cressida’s POV but this second book has multiple POV where we get to find out what Noah and Emeric are thinking.

Narration is excellent and brings the characters to life. I love having multiple narrators!

I enjoyed everything about this book. There are plenty surprises and twists and turns to keep you guessing. I’m looking forward to finding out what will happen next.

Survival

Book 2 in this spin off series is more about survival than anything. You still get a sprinkle of that 🔥 you have come to expect and plenty of magic around but this is a solid middle book giving us adventure and leaving us wanting the next one!
